Douglass's use of the words "severe trial" and "departure", as well as his sentence structure shows a more formal diction. He is basically saying nothing stopped him from leaving. However, he uses much more formal diction. Imagery is the creation of images in the reader's mind through description. There are no images in the reader's mind from this excerpt. There are also no elements of sentiment in the passage or subjectivity.
Susan B. Anthony was arrested and tied in 1872 for voting in the presidential election. After which she delivered the speech on "Woman's Rights to the Suffrage" in 1873. In her speech, she justifies that she had not done any crime by voting as it is her citizen right. Also, in her speech, she represents the rights of women in voting. Women in 1800 had few rights that they could practice. Through her tone of persuasiveness and serious, she states "Every discrimination against women in the constitutions and laws of the several States is today null and void, precisely as in every one against Negroes." Its because of her that today women have freedom.

Such use of diction and language asserted her point of view and reflected upon her higher education and that she is no different from men. Another citizen right used by her, which asserted her point as a fact and not the opinion of her own. These lines from the morality play should warn people that they are completely alone in this world, with only their Good Deeds to follow them beyond the grave.
