A monopolist earns a profit of $50 million annually and will have the same indefinitely.

Present value of Perpetuity = D/r

where D = Annuity ($50 million)

R = Rate of interest (10%)

Current Value = $50,000,000 ÷ 0.1\\Current Value = $500,000,000

Therefore the current value is $500,000,000

Now, if another player enters the market.

Present Value = $50,000,000/(1+0.1)^1 + $25,000,000/0.1

Present Value = $45,454,545.45 + $250,000,000 Present Value = $295,454,545.45

Therefore, the present value of future period is $295,454,545.45

The CFO of Mulroney Brothers has suggested that the company should issue $300 million worth of common stock and use the proceeds
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer: A. The company's net income will increase.

Explanation:

Based on the above scenario, the net income of the company will increase. From the new issue, it should be noted that there will be redemption of debt and therefore, there'll be reduction in the debt which will lead to lower interest expense.

It should be noted that the net income, which is also referred to as the net earnings, is simply the sales minus the cost of goods sold, interest, taxes and the general expenses. Since there's a lower interest expense, there'll be a rise in net income.

Temka [501]

Answer:

pretax income is $152080

Explanation:

given data

fixed costs = $74300

variable costs = 34%

sales = $343000

to find out

pretax income

solution

we know that pretax income formula is

pretax income = sales - variable costs - fixed costs

put all these value

pretax income = 343000 - 34% of 343000 - 74300

pretax income = 343000 - 116620 - 74300

pretax income = 152080

so pretax income is $152080

Suppose a family has saved enough for a 10 day vacation (the only one they will be able to take for 10 years) and has a utility
Harlamova29_29 [7]

Answer:

2 Days

Explanation:

First, there is the need to rewrite the utility function for clarity

U=V^{1/2}

1. The Probability of Falling ill by someone in the family is given as 20%

2. If someone should fall ill, the total number of days that would be spoiled is calculated as:

Total number of vacation= 10 days x Probability to fall ill = 20%

= 10 x 0.2 = 2 days

This means if someone should fall ill based on the probability, then 2 out of the total 10 days can be ruined

3. The number of days for vacation days to enjoy is 10-2 = 8 days

This means if the family gives up 2 days of probable illness, they can still enjoy their vacation.

V= 2 days

Based on this calculation, the consultant concludes that industry X is more concentrated market than industry Y and that industry X is more competitive market.

The intensity of Porter competition determines the level of competition that exists in an industry. This competition can be affected by many factors, including industry focus, replacement costs, fixed costs, and industry growth rates. The intensity of competition among competitors in a given industry refers to the extent to which companies in a given industry put pressure on each other and determine each other their profit potential. If competition is fierce, competitors are trying to steal profits and market share from each other.
