Jim Tree sells trees. The mean length of the trees purchased was 68 inches with a standard deviation of 10 inches. Jim wants to

know what percent of his sales were more than 84 inches tall. He can use the standard normal distribution to help him.
1. He asks, "what is the mean?" Mean = ------ inches.
He thinks, "What is the expected distribution about the mean?" ( 38 inches 48 inches 58 inches 68 inches 78 inches 88 inches 98 inches. )
2. He thinks, " ------% of the sales will be below 68 inches." But, he needs to know the percentage between 68 and 84 to add to that. So, he calculates a z-score = = , and finds the percentage associated with 1.6 in the table.
3. This is (to the nearest tenth)------- %. Now Jim knows that ------- % of his sales were 84 inches or less.
4. Therefore, the remaining -------- % were more than 84 inches.

1. The mean is given in the problem statement as 68 inches.

2. 50% of the normal distribution is below the mean. This question answers itself regarding the z-score. It is 1.6. (Jim computed it as z = (x-μ)/σ = (84-68)/10 = 1.6.)

3. We don't have your table, so we don't know what it tells you. We expect it will tell you either 0.05480 or 0.94520. Assuming the latter, the percentage associated with 1.6 in the table is 94.5%. Now Jim knows 94.5% of his sales were 84 inches or less.

4. Therefore, the remaining 5.5% were more than 84 inches.

Bert and Ernie are missing each other and their friend Big Bird They want to meet at Big Bird's nest which is halfway from their
algol [13]

Answer:

The distance between Bert and Ernie's apartments from Big Bird's nest

is 21 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets change the story problem to an equation to solve the problem

- The information i the story problem is

# The Big Bird's nest is halfway from there apartments

# The distance between Bert's apartment and Big Bird's nest is (5x + 4)

# The distance between Ernie's apartment and Big Bird's nest is (15x - 30)

* Now lets solve

∵ The Big Bird's nest is halfway from there apartments

∴ The distance between Bert's apartment and Big Bird's nest = The

distance between Ernie's apartment and Big Bird's nest

∴ 5x + 4 = 15x - 30

- Collect the variable terms in one side and the numerical terms

 in th other side

∴ 15x - 5x = 30 + 4 ⇒ add

∴ 10x = 34

∴ x = 34 ÷ 10 = 3.4

* Now lets find the distance between Bert and Ernie's apartments

from the Big Bird's nest

- We can use any relation to find the distance

∵ The distance = 5x + 4

∵ x = 3.4

∴ The distance = 5(3.4) + 4 = 17 + 4 = 21 miles

You can check the answer by using second equation

∵ The distance = 15x - 30

∵ x = 3.4

∴ The distance = 15(3.4) - 30 = 51 - 30 = 21 miles

Which equation, when solved, results in a different value of x than the other three?
pashok25 [27]

Answer:

11.3 = 8.3 + 0.6x

Step-by-step explanation:

You would subtract the 8.3 from 11.3 so you would get 3 = 0.6x. Then you would divide both sides by 0.6 resulting in x = 5.

Writing two column proofs<br> Given: BC bisects. ABD M ABD =52° prove: mABC=26°
Artemon [7]

Given

BC bisects ABD

∠ ABD =52°

prove: m ∠ABC=26°

To proof

As given in the question

BC bisects ∠ABD

This means BC divided ∠ABD into the two equal parts.

Therefore

\angle ABC = \frac{1}{2}\angle ABD

As given

∠ABD = 52°

put this in the above value

we get

\angle ABC =\frac{1}{2}52^{\circ}

∠ABC = 26°

Hence proved
