Nick Chapp manages an Auto Film outlet that applies window film to automobile windows. He reported that this past week, a total

of 23 autos had window film applied. Auto Film charges $189.99 for a four-door sedan and $159.99 for a two-door coupe. If Nick had total receipts for the week of $4189.77, how many four-door sedans had been serviced? How many two-door coupes?

Let, the number of four door sedans = x

And the number of two door coupes = y

Given a total of 23 autos had window film applied.

So we can write the equation as, x+y = 23 .....equation 1

The charge of auto film for a four door sedan = $189.99.

Now the charge of auto film for x four door sedans = $(189.99)(x) = $(189.99x)

Also given, the charge of auto film for a two door coupe = $159.99.

So, the charge of auto film for y two doos coupes = $(159.99)(y) = $(159.99y)

The total receipts for the week = $4189.77

So we can write the equation as,

189.99x + 159.99y = 4189.77 .....equation 2

From equation 1, we can write, x = 23-y

Now by substituting this value of x in equation 2 we will get,

189.99 (23-y) + 159.99y = 4189.77

By distributing 189.99 we will get,

4369.77 - 189.99y +159.99y = 4189.77

4369.77-30y = 4189.77

To get y first we move 30y to the right side by adding it to both sides. We will get,

4369.77-30y+30y = 4189.77 +30y

4369.77 = 4189.77+30y

Now to get y , we will move 4189.77 to the left side by subtracting it from both sides. We will get,

4369.77-4189.77 = 4189.77-4189.77+30y

180 = 30y

Now to get , we will move 30 to the left side by dividing it to both sides. We will get,

\frac{180}{30} =\frac{30y}{30}

\frac{180}{30} = y

6 = y

y = 6

So we have got the number of two door coupes = 6

The number of four door sedans = (23-6) = 17.

We have got the required answer here.

In the diagram of circle O, what is the measure of abc? 34° 45° 68° 73°
Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

A. m\angle ABC=34^{\circ}

Step-by-step explanation:

We have been given a diagram. We are asked to find the measure of angle ABC.

First of all, we will find measure of major arc AC by subtracting 146 from 360 degrees.

\text{Measure of arc AC}=360^{\circ}-146^{\circ}

\text{Measure of arc AC}=214^{\circ}

Now, we will use tangent-tangent angle theorem to solve for ABC.

Tangent-Tangent angle theorem states that angle formed by two tangents outside a circle is half the difference of intercepted arcs.

m\angle ABC=\frac{214^{\circ}-146^{\circ}}{2}

m\angle ABC=\frac{68^{\circ}}{2}

m\angle ABC=34^{\circ}

Therefore, the measure of angle ABC is 34 degrees and option A is the correct choice.

Kayleigh babysat for 11 hours this week. That was 5 fewer than 2/3 as many hours as she babysat last week, h. Write an equation
lukranit [14]

Answer: The answer is \textup{x}=\dfrac{2}{3}\textup{h}-5.

Step-by-step explanation: Given that Kayleigh babysat for 11 hours the present week. Also, this was 5 less than two-third of the number of hours she babysat last week, which is represented by 'h'.

We are to write an equation to represent the number of hours she babysat each week.

So, for that, let 'x' be the number of hours she babysat this week. Then, according to the question, we can write

\textup{x}=\dfrac{2}{3}\textup{h}-5.

Also, it is given that

\textup{x}=11.

Therefore,

11=\dfrac{2}{3}\textup{h}-5\\\\\Rightarrow \dfrac{2}{3}\textup{h}=16\\\\\Rightarrow \textup{h}=24.

Hence, using the above relation, we can find the number oh hours Keyleigh babysat each week.

Thus, the required equation is

\textup{x}=\dfrac{2}{3}\textup{h}-5,

where, 'x' and 'h' are the number of hours she sat this week and last week respectively.

A rectangular area is formed having a perimeter of 40 cm. Determine the length and breadth of the rectangle if it is to enclose
Vilka [71]

Let x and y be the dimensions of the rectangle. If the perimeter is 40, we have

2(x+y)=40 \iff x+y=20

We can expression one variable in terms of the others as

x+y=20 \iff x=20-y

Since the area is the product of the dimensions, we have

xy=(20-y)y=-y^2+20y

This is a parabola facing down, so it's vertex is the maximum:

f(y)=-y^2+20y \implies f'(y)=-2y+20

So, the maximum is

f'(y)=0 \iff -2y+20=0 \iff 2y=20 \iff y=10

And since we know that x+y=20, we have x=10 as well.

This is actually a well known theorem: out of all the rectangles with given perimeter, the one with the greatest area is the square.
