A gift shop sells little lentils—cuddly animal dolls stuffed with dried lentils—at a very steady pace of 10 per day, 310 days pe

r year. the wholesale cost of the dolls is $5, and the gift shop uses an annual interest rate of 20 percent to compute holding costs. (a) if the shop wants to place an average of 20 replenishment orders per year, what order quantity should it use? (b) if the shop orders dolls in quantities of 100, what is the implied fixed order cost? (c) if the shop estimates the cost of placing a purchase order to be $10, what is the optimal order quantity?

Sales = 10 dolls/days

Annual sales = D = 10 dolls/days × 310 days

                         D = 3100 dolls / year

Wholesale cost = $5/doll

Holding cost = h = $5 * 20% = $1 / doll

A = Fixed cost

A) 3100 / 20 = 155 dolls / order

B) Optimal Order Quantity = 100 = \sqrt{2AD/h}

                                                100 = \sqrt{(2*3100*A)/1}

                                                A = $ 1.612

The implied fixed cost per doll is $ 1.612

C) Optimal Order Quantity = \sqrt{2AD/h}  = \sqrt{(2*3100*10)/1} = 249 Dolls

The optimal order quantity is 249 dolls

Frequency of filling dolls = 10 / day

D/Q = 310 / year

Production cost c = $5.00

Therefore, the demand = 301 * 10 = 3,100 dolls

The Annual interest rate = 20%

Therefore, holding cost = 0.2 * 5 = $1 per year

a) F = 20, Q = D / F = 3,100 / 20 = 155

b) 100 = Q = SQRT[2AD/h] = SQRT[2a(3100)/1] = 78.74 SQRT[A]

Therefore, A = $1.61

c) Q = SQRT[2AD/h] = SQRT[2(10)(3100)/1] = 249

Cold Goose Metal Works Inc. just reported earnings after tax (also called net income) of $9,000,000 and a current stock price of
k0ka [10]

Answer:

1. $29.19

2. 8.27

3. Yes

4. The Companies with high research and development (R&D) expenses tend to have high P/E Ratios is the statement that is TRUE

Explanation:

1. Calculation for what the company’s management expect its stock price to be one year from now

First step is to calculate for the Current situation using this formula

Earnings per Share = Net Income / Shares Outstanding

Let plug in the formula

Current Earnings per Share = 9,000,000 / 5,500,000

Current Earnings per Share = $1.63

Second is to calculate for the Current P/E

Current P/E Ratio = 34 per share / 1.63

Current P/E Ratio = 20.85 times

Third step is to calculate for the Proposed Situation:

Proposed Net Income = $9,000,000 * 1.25

Proposed Net Income = $11,250,000

Fourth step is to calculate for the Proposed Earnings per Share

Proposed Earnings per Share = $11,250,000 / 8,000,000

Proposed Earnings per Share = $1.40

Last step is to find the P/E Ratio using this formula

P/E Ratio = Price per Share / Earnings per Share

Let plug in the formula

20.85 = Price per Share / 1.40

Price per Share =$20.85×$1.40

Price per Share= $29.19

Therefore what the company’s management expect its stock price to be one year from now will be $29.19

2. Calculation for Cold Goose’s market-to-book (M/B) ratio

Using this formula

Market to Book Ratio (M/B) = Market Value / Book Value

First step is to find the Market value

Market Value = $48.36 per share× 8,000,000

Market Value = $386,880,000

Second step is to calculate for the Market to Book Ratio (M/B) using this formula

Market to Book Ratio (M/B) = Market Value / Book Value

Let plug in the formula

Market to Book Ratio (M/B) = $386,880,000 / $46,768,000

Market to Book Ratio (M/B) = 8.27

Therefore Cold Goose’s market-to-book (M/B) ratio is 8.27

3. Yes a company’s shares can exhibit a negative P/E ratio in a situation where the Company incur a net loss.

4. The statements that is TRUE about market value ratios is :

The Companies with high research and development (R&D) expenses tend to have high P/E Ratios.

Suppose the demand function for avocados is Q = 104 - 40p + 20tp + 0.01Y, where p is the price of avocados, pt is the price of t
LiRa [457]

Answer: equilibrium price = 4

Quantity of avocado = 110units

Explanation:

Q = 104 - 40p + 20tp + 0.01Y........eq1

Q = 58 + 15p - 20pf...........eq2

pt = $0.80,

Y = $4,000,

pf = $0.40

From eqn1 substituting of into it

Q = 104 - 40p + 20($0.80) + 0.01($4000)

= 104 - 40p + 16 + 40

= 160/40p

p = 4 equilibrium price

From eqn2. Substituting p and pf into it.

Q = 58 + 15p - 20pf

Q = 58 + 15(4) - 20($0.40).

Q = 58 + 60 - 8

Q = 110 quantity of avocado

Use the following information . On January 1, 2018, Dennis Company purchased land for an office site by paying $540,000 cash. De
FromTheMoon [43]

Answer:

$82,800

Explanation:

The computation of the amount of interest cost to be capitalized during 2018 is shown below:-

Amount of interest cost to be capitalized = (Borrowed amount × Rate of interest) + ($300,000 ÷ 2 × Rate of interest)

= ($720,000 × 9%) + ($150,000 × 12%)

= $82,800

Therefore for computing the amount of interest cost to be capitalized during 2018 we simply applied the above formula.
