I am pretty sure that common theme which best compares the author's’ purposes in ‘’silent spring ‘’and “save the redwoods” throughout both stories is the topic about preservation of the environment. Both of this stories persuades to show  caring careful attitude towards nature and duty to save the environment. These stories have only one slight difference, to be more exact in ’’silent spring’’ awares us to save the birds whereas the ‘’Save the Redwoods’’ encourages to save the forests.

Do you believe that sarcasm is confusing, or is the condemnation more a result of not wanting criticism? Can sarcasm really be p
Vsevolod [243]

Answer:

Sarcasm indeed can be confusing.

Explanation:

Sarcasm indeed can be confusing to some extent. Sarcasm can be understood as "indirect criticism", what you say manifest exactly the oposite of what you really mean with the comment.

Sarcasm cannot be prevented, it is a very "human" activity due to the high symbolism, and complexities of human interaction, sarcasm is expected to exist in one way or another.

Yes, the continuing comments in the U.S about fake news may have something to do with the country's growingly "autistic" impatience with sarcasm and criticism.

Describe in your own words the difference between Judge Danforth's reaction to the possibility that the girls were not truthful
andriy [413]

Answer:

judge danforth has staked his reputation as a representative of the law on the outcome of the salem witch trials. therefore, he cannot abide any result other than the condemnation of the accused. since the trials hinge on the girl's testimony (the word of abigail, betty and the others against the accused), he refuses to consider the possibility that they lied. one might even say that he is in denial; such a possibility would mean his end as a respected officer of the law. hale, on the other hand, as a man of god, cares more about the truth in absolute terms. he initially went along with the trials, but as his doubts grew he began to turn against them. he knows his reputation will suffer (or rather, it has already suffered) but, since he now believes the trials to be tainted, he fears for his soul because of his complicity in them. therefore, he is more open to the possibility that the girls lied, and argues forcefully to judge danforth against their testimony.

Despite this, Antigone goes against the decree of her uncle and displays her loyalty to family and buries his body. She firmly believed that the body rests in peace only when it is buried. Though her sister Ismene was against her, however, Antigone displays the traits of courage and independence knowing that it would bring her death.
