1. During the Elizabethan period, relations between England and Spain were tense. Describe three issues that caused friction bet
Eddi Din [679]
England and Spain had been at each other's neck from 1585 to 1603. It all started during the era of exploration of the New World. Both couhtries were vying for the wealth and power brought upon the expeditions. Another issue that both had been very tense about is religion. England was a Protestant country under the rule of Elizabeth I. Spain considered it as a religous crusade and lastly, English Seamen were attacking Spanish vessels. Because of these issues both countries were at war. Many Protestants were persecuted during the reign of Mary Tudor. Elizabeth I excommunicated the Pope, just to name a few. Spanish vessels were attacked by Drake. The war ended when Elizabeth I died and King James i issued a decree on piracy

Summarize joseph stalin's rise to power and how his control expanded. why was it significant?
RSB [31]
Stalin first became secretary of the Communist party. He then used his power to eliminate his competitors. He rose to power as dictator after Lenin's death. He used terror to control and once he had total control, he kept a tight of society and reigned and worked to revamp the economy.

This was significant because under Stalin, the Soviet Union transformed into an industrial and military superpower, but  because he ruled in terror, millions of his citizens died during his brutal reign.

In this excerpt from “Ode on a Grecian Urn” by John Keats, which four parts reflect the theme that art is immortal?
Andre45 [30]

This poem with 5 strophes underlines in 4th of them (1,2,3,5) that art is immortal. The théme of the poem is the immortality of art.

The speaker of the poem is a man who observes a Grecian urn and describes the frozen moment painted on it.

He describes it on the first moment, then he concludes time will never pass for the painted persons, finally, he remembers his generation and assumes they´ll be forgotten.

  • The frozen scene:

<em>Fair youth, beneath the trees, thou canst not leave</em>

<em>       Thy song, nor ever can those trees be bare;</em>

<em>She cannot fade, though thou hast not thy bliss,</em>

<em>               Forever wilt thou love, and she is fair!</em>

  • Time will never pass:

<em>Ah, happy, happy boughs! that cannot shed</em>

<em>Forever warm and still to be enjoyed,</em>

<em>                Forever panting, and forever young;</em>

  • The conclusion:

<em>When old age shall this generation waste,</em>

<em>                Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woes</em>

<em>Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou say'st,</em>

<em>         "Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all</em>

<em>                Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."</em>
