Robert Hooke was the first person to coin the term cells and stated that they looked like a bunch of small rooms, hence the name (it basically translates to small rooms). His work inspired others and the cell theory was made by Schlieden and Schwann.

Sorry if this is incorrect, but I hope it helps :)

Yanni made a chart to compare the strong and weak forces. Which best describes Yanni’s error? Only the weak force is active in t
cluponka [151]

Answer: Option (d) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

Nucleus of an atom consists of protons and neutrons. Protons are positively charged and neutrons have no charge. So, due to the like charges of protons there occurs electrostatic force of repulsion inside the nucleus of the atom.

But due to similar number of neutrons and protons a force that is able to bind both of them together is known as strong nuclear binding energy.

This force is strong enough that it is able to overcome electrostatic force of repulsion. But when there is great difference in the number of protons and neutrons then binding force is not strong enough.

Hence, the atom becomes unstable and undergoes radioactive decay. So, this means weak forces are responsible for radioactive decay.

Thus, we can conclude that the statement which best describes Yanni’s error is that the strong force is responsible for radioactive decay.

n the Meselson-Stahl DNA replication experiment, if the cells were first grown for many generations in 15N containing media, and
nirvana33 [79]

Answer:

50%

Explanation:

DNA replication is a semi-conservative process. It means that after DNA replication, the newly formed DNA molecules have one parental strand and one newly formed strand. The cells in the experiment have DNA with 15N. After one round of DNA replication, each DNA molecule would have one parental DNA strand with 15N and one newly formed DNA strand with 14N.

However, after the second round of DNA replication, each hybrid DNA with strand having 15N and the other with 14N would be unwound. The parental heavy DNA strands would be present in the 50% of the newly formed DNA while the rest 50% of DNA molecules would have both strands with 14N (both light strands).

rodikova [14]

Answer:

See the explanation below, what is the question you intend to ask anyway?

Explanation:

  • Meiosis transmit traits from one generation to the next. It the  key process that brings genetic variation into the traits that offspring inherit from their parents.  In the life cycle of an organism, meiosis is paired with the process of fertilization.
  • Meiosis produces two daughter nuclei with the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell as each other. The chromosomes are re-grouped during meiosis to form new combinations of genes. Genetic reunion is very important as a source of genetic variation.

In Kerr and Wright's experiment with 96 fruit-fly populations, only 4 males and 4 females bred in each generation. After 16 gene
Svetradugi [14.3K]

Answer:

2.Less than 73% of the populations would have only one allele present.

Explanation:

The two alleles chosen do not affect the fitness of flies in the lab environment, so Kerr and Wright could be confident that if changes in the frequency of normal and forked phenotypes occurred, they would not be due to natural selection.

Using a larger breeding population would not be expected to alter the outcome of the experiment.
