Part A What argument does the author make in Paragraph 8? Wind power is an underused resource that has the potential to provide

the energy to power electricity for the entire country. Wind power is an overrated energy industry that costs more money to develop and maintain than other alternative energy sources. Several government bodies must pass legislation to regulate wind power distribution channels before it can be used across the entire country. The use of alternative energy like wind will end dependence on outside sources of energy and immediately improve the environment. Part B How effective is the author’s response to the statistics in Paragraph 8 that demonstrate that wind power produced a minimal amount of the nation’s electricity in 2012? Effective; the author refutes the counterclaim by providing evidence that wind power has produced significantly more energy since 2012. Effective; the author acknowledges the counterclaim and explains the U.S. Department of Energy’s plan to increase the use of wind energy in the future. Ineffective; the author avoids addressing the counterclaim by attacking the validity of the study by the AWEA in 2012. Ineffective; the author ignores the counterclaim and instead provides exaggerated praise for the possible contributions of wind power in the future.

Answer:

The answer is D.

Explanation:

This is a passage from a book Black Girl which is written by Ousmane Sembène. The story follows a young Senegalese girl who started to work for a rich French family in Antibes. She expected to be a nanny and have a good life, but it turned out that they wanted her as a servant and treated her very harsh.

Reading this text, we see that Madame is sick of doing everything alone, so she hires a maid, a girl called Diouana who has African roots. She is given a good salary, some old clothes and shoes she can still use.

Answer A is not true, because Madame is not resentful, she wanted help and she got it.

Answer B - although she might not much about France we can not conclude that from this passage

Answer C - this behavior of Diouana is not mentioned in the text

Answer D is correct - she doesn't treat Diouana respectfully, if she really wanted to give her clothes, she would have given her new clothes, not the used one, in this way she establishes her social dominance. So, she gives her high salary in purpose to bribe her into coming to France, so she could have free time.
