DNA. We have heard that we are a product of our DNA. But where is it? How do we "get" our DNA? It is passed to us, from our pare

nts, but in what form? Several vocabulary words associated with inheritance are used interchangeably and sometimes, incorrectly. Let's see if you can clear this up for someone just learning about inheritance and cell structure. explain how all are related to inheritance.

Answer:

DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) is a genetic material an organism inherited from his or her parents. The offspring gets half the genetic material from and another half from the father.

The parents contributed to the DNA of the child through gametes (egg of the mother and sperm of the father).

Each gamete contains the genetic material in the form of chromosomes. For example, in humans, each gamete consists of 23 chromosomes (half genetic material).

Egg and sperm fuse to form a zygote and to complete the set of genetic material. For example, the fusion of egg and sperm restores the chromosome number to 46.

The genes or protein-coding sequences of DNA of chromosomes code for traits of an individual. For example, hair color, skin color, height et cetera. It is the reason that we say we are the products of our DNA.
