Answer: A. 1

Mangrove swamps are wetland ecosystem found in the coastal area. These are found in regions where water body and terrestrial land meets. These ecosystem are dominated by mangrove trees due to their ability to servive in harsh saline water conditions. The roots of mangrove trees exhibit salt filteration system. These trees are habitat of many bird and animal species. The roots of these trees provide shelter, to underwater aquatic plant and animal species such as algea, prawns, sponges and fishes. Mangroves trees and algea are primary producers of the food chain in mangrove ecosytem. Mangrove tree leaves are eaten up by herbivores insects and algal species are consumed by large number of sea animals. Hence, mangrove tree and algea will be on the 1 number of the food chain.

Arisa [49]

Answer:

See the answer below

Explanation:

Let the disorder be represented by the allele a.

Since the disease is an autosomal recessive one, affected individuals will have the genotype aa and normal individuals will have the genotype Aa or AA.

Since the four adults are carriers, their genotypes would be Aa.

                    Aa x Aa

Progeny: AA 2Aa aa

Probability of being affected = 1/4

Probability of being a carrier = 1/2

Probability of not being affected = 3/4

(a) The chance that the child second child of Mary and Frank will have alkaptonuria = 1/2

(b) The chance that the third child of Sara and James will be free of the condition = 3/4

(c)

(d) If someone has no family history of the disorder, their genotype would be AA.

                 AA x aa

                        4 Aa

The chance that a child with alkaptonuria will have an offspring with alkaptonuria if the child's mate has no family history = 0

(e)

(f) The chance that a child with alkaptonuria will have an offspring with alkaptonuria if the child's mate has no family history = 0

Alexandra [31]

Answer:

B. Two functions of carbohydrates are structural support and transferring genetic information

Explanation:

Carbohydrates are synthesized in green plants, thanks to photosynthesis, in which carbon dioxide (CO2) and water are converted into glycides, with energy provided by light. The energy stored in the glucose molecule during photosynthesis is released in the degradation (catabolism) of glucose, producing water and CO2.

From the point of view of metabolism, the main function of carbohydrates in plant organisms is to provide energy and provide structural support. This can be seen in the question above, because we can see that in spring, when stem growth is at its fastest pace, cellulose production rates increase in some plants, while in months with less sunlight, the level of starch decreases in some plants.
