Elizabethan people also consider their health when choosing what to eat. . . . But our ideas about healthy food are very differe

nt from Elizabethan ones. For example, while we make use of sage in our cooking on account of its taste, Elizabethans use it because it is thought to sharpen the brain. Sir Thomas Elyot is worth listening to on this subject. Although he is a layman and not a physician, his book, The Castel of Health, proves hugely influential—it goes into its sixteenth edition in 1595. He declares that mutton is the most wholesome meat you can eat and that fish is not so good because it thins the blood.

Read the excerpt from "Ship's Chronometer from HMS Beagle” and consider the accompanying image.
suter [353]

The correct answer is "The image aids readers' understanding of key concepts". A nautical chronometer made by Thomas Earnshaw is now in the British Museum. It was used in the ship that carried Charles Darwin on his voyage around the world as part of the equipment of HMS Beagle. It was not the first chronometers, but it was the first lower-cost chronometers.  It was brass and it was around the size of a large pocket watch.

Revise and edit the paragraph. Ensure that it uses a consistent verb tense throughout.
Oksana_A [137]

Answer:

Elisa's character is established in the place where she was safest and most comfortable - the chrysanthemum garden, but it changes when we see her on the road with Henry. Her actions while tending the garden reveal that she felt confident, powerful, and in charge in that setting. This confidence was evident when she skillfully destroys the insects before they can harm the plants. Her pride in her flowers in this setting is also what makes her open up to the stranger, after being wary of him at first. The garden setting provided the opportunity for the man and Elisa to interact in a more intimate way than another setting would, revealing a new side of Elisa.

Artemon [7]
<span>When viewed through a formalist lens, the point of Shakespeare’s structure is to emphasize Hamlet's indecision that recurs throughout the play.
Hamlet is quite an indecisive character - he knows that he should do something, but he is torn between his options. He knows that he cannot choose to stay idle and ignore the death of his father - thus he can either choose revenge and kill Claudius, or choose suicide, and end it all.
