Answer:

The correct answer would be 50%.

In heterozygous condition, the phenotype of the plant was tall. Hence, we can conclude that tall is coded by the dominant allele.

Let us assume "T" (dominant) and "t" (recessive) be the alleles of the gene regulating the height of the plant.

So, Tt and TT will code for tallness and tt will code for shortness of the plant.

Now, the genotype of the parent plants: Tt (heterozygous tall) and tt (homozygous short).

Gametes formed by Tt parent: T and t.

Gametes formed by tt plant: t.

The cross in the form of Punnett square is shown in the figure attached.

It showed that 50% of the offspring were heterozygous (Tt) tall while other 50% were homozygous (tt) short.

A population of hummingbirds feeds exclusively on nectar from orchids. Two species of orchids exist in the hummingbirds' habitat
lakkis [162]

Answer:

D

Explanation:

Natural selection is the differential survival and reproduction of individuals because of the differences in the phenotypic characteristics. It supports the fact that those organisms, which have phenotypic characteristic favorable to survive in the changing environment as compared to other organisms, and these traits will also be passed to the successive generations.

In the given situation, the hummingbirds those have adapted according to the needs, that is deriving nectar from either from short and long tubes nectar. Therefore, two phenotypic characteristics like short beak and long beaks will become dominant trait in the population of humingbirds as the intermediate beak hummingbirds will not be able to feed from either of the flowers.

Classify the events as autogenic or allogenic succession.
nydimaria [60]

In ecology, allogenic succession is mediated by the abiotic components of the ecosystem, while the autogenic succession refers to the succession, which is mediated by the biotic components of an ecosystem.

A volcanic eruption wiping out an entire island is an example of allogenic succession.

A soybean crop helping in nitrogen fixation, leading to the development of other species is an illustration of autogenic succession.

A tsunami devastating all the living organism in a habitat is an example of allogenic succession.

Oak trees preventing the growth of smaller sun-seeking shrubs is an example of autogenic succession.

A student measured the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide dissolved in an aquarium containing an aquatic plant and a snail. Why
ratelena [41]

The answer is A. Putting the aquarium in the dark means that the aquatic plants will not be able to photosynthesize.  The process of photosynthesis produces oxygen as a by-product. The oxygen is used by the fishes in respiration and release carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide is used by the aquatic plants in photosynthesis.
