Explain why the Greeks might not have had a great influence on the world if they had better farmland?

If the Greeks hadn't had the not-so-good geographical characteristics they have, maybe they also wouldn't have had the great influence on the world they did have.

The access to good farmland was primely important in ancient times because it was all that the people had to work with, in order to eat or build. As they didn't have the best farmland in the Mediterranean shores, they had two options: trading, which wasn't very useful if you had nothing to trade with; or going for some fields outside their own.

In this pursuit of this economic independence and growth, the Greeks started to colonize tha lands around them, thus creating a several-centuries-lasting Empire that put them at the top of cultural and political developments.

To summarize, their lack of perfect farmland is what forced them to look for and discover new possibilities, and some of their discoveries survived till our days.

The Greeks would not have much influence in the world if they had larger areas of good soil and cropland in their area for agriculture. Only a small percent, around 20% of its land was usable for growing crops (most of them were grapes, barley, and olives). Because of this, they feel the need to mix with other communities in search of better and more agrarian lands for their development. Soon their social, political and economic organizations would be highly changed and Greek style would influence the world.

Answer:

That America is a nation of immigrants is more true.

Explanation:

While it is true that there have always been people, and political forces that have opposed immigration to America, this has not prevented millions of people from immigrating to America at different times during history.

In the eighteen and early twentieth century, millions of Europeans immigrated to America, mainly from Germany, Italy, Ireland, and Poland. They arrived in the ports of eastern cities like New York and Philadephia, and from there, settled all over the American Territory.

In the second half of the twentieth century, millions of people from Latin America also immigrated to the U.S., mainly from Mexico and Cuba.

What is attributed to boosting college enrollment numbers from 50,000 students in 1870 to over 600,000
snow_tiger [21]

The correct answer is; The Morrill Acts of 1862 and 1890.

Further Explanation:

In the mid 1800's, colleges started accepting females to enroll and get degrees. This also helped to boost numbers in colleges. But it was the Morrill Acts that established the foundation for hundreds of thousands of students to enroll in college.

The Morrill Acts were part of a federal government initiative to give public land and federal money to create the land grand grants to build colleges. This allowed the middle class families to send their children or themselves to college. The first state to use the land grant funds was Iowa.
