pantera1 [17]

Answer:

Phantom pain.

Explanation:

Phantom limbs or phantom pain is a phenomenon where receptors in the brain pick up pain or movement from a nonexistent limb. For example, if you put your hand where someone's leg <em>would be</em>, they would be uncomfortable, as you'd be putting your hand through their phantom limb. Despite it not being their, your brain may still feel like it is. This is also seen in animals, as a cat or dog with an amputated back leg will try and scratch their ears or sides with a limb that isn't there.

Describe three ways in which technology has helped treat the flu
Sauron [17]

Answer:

Besides playing various roles in daily life, technology also plays roles in preventing and treating different diseases. Flu can be prevented by the use of technology in several ways:

  • Use of web to find out latest vaccines and their availability: Vaccines for flu also called flu shots are recommended by doctors in order t stay away from flu as much as possible, web services are efficient source in this regard that help to search for available vaccines and trend of flue in particular areas.
  • Quicker diagnostic results: Technology has developed such rapid diagnostic tests that give results within minutes. Like screening test for qualitative analysis of flu have been made and such tests have been developed that are easy to carry out just by single nasal swab.
  • Air filters and UV bulbs: To prevent the germs inside the home or closed environment, use of air filters like HEPA filter and UV light is trending. HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filter the air at great extent thus preventing the germs to spread, and UV light has characteristic to be antimicrobial so it is also installed to kill pathogenic microbes.

A manager expects to do about 120 covers this Friday night. Usually, about one in five people orders pasta. About half of those
Nana76 [90]
The correct answer is 180 ounces.
According to the information provided, the manager expects 120 people that night. The probability of ordering pasta is 1 in 5, which means that 24 of the 120 people visiting the restaurant will order pasta (120/5 = 24). Half of these people (12) are expected to order a dinner portion and half (12) will order the half portion. Since, the dinner portion weighs 10 ounces, 12 people will need 120 (12*10) ounces. Also, the half portion weighs 5 ounces, so 12 people will need 60 (12*5) ounces. In total, he will need 120+60=180 ounces of pasta.

After transcription begins, several steps must be completed before the fully processed mRNA is ready to be used as a template fo
skad [1K]

a. A translation stop codon is added at the 3' end of the pre-mRNA.

c. A poly-A tail (50-250 adenine nucleotides) is added to the 3' end of the pre-mRNA.

d. Coding sequences called exons are spliced out by ribosomes.

Explanation:

In eukaryotes, during protein synthesis, the RNA must exit nucleus through the pores on the nuclear membrane and enter into the cytoplasm to undergo translation.

The exit processes of mRNA are: the 5’ capping, 3’ Poly-A tail, and pre-mRNA splicing.

The 5’capping is the initial step with addition of 7-methylguanosine cap to the 5’ end of the mRNA by phosphate linkage. This process protects the mRNA from degrading and helps to initiate translation processes.

The 3’ Poly-A tail step is the cleaving of pre-mRNA and addition of addition of around 200 A nucleotides or the 3’poly (A) tail to the mRNA by the poly (A) polymerase enzyme protein complex. This prevents pre-mRNA degradation, facilitates movement of mRNA to the cytoplasm, and initiates translation.

Pre-mRNA splicing is done to remove the introns from the mRNA because they are not part of function protein coding. The exons which take part in protein coding sequence are spliced once the introns are excised.

Finally, the resultant mRNA will exit the nucleus and enter the cytoplasm to undergo translation .
