Read the excerpts from “Take the Tortillas Out of Your Poetry” and “Speaking Arabic.”My friend had concluded that if he took his

language and culture out of his poetry, he stood a better chance of receiving a fellowship. He took out his native language, the poetic patois of our reality, the rich mixture of Spanish, English, pachuco and street talk which we know so well. In other words, he took the tortillas out of his poetry, which is to say he took the soul out of his poetry. At a neighborhood fair in Texas, somewhere between the German Oom-pah Sausage Stand and the Mexican Gorditas booth, I overheard a young man say to his friend, “I wish I had a heritage. Sometimes I feel—so lonely for one.” And the tall American trees were dangling their thick branches right down over his head.Which best states how the structures of both excerpts support ideas about cultural diversity? Each incorporates non-English words. Each incorporates academic words. Each incorporates offensive words. Each incorporates nonsense words.

And the exceprt from "Speaking Arabic" includes the German term "Oom-pah" a term associated with Volkstümliche Musik -a form of popular German music- and with polka; and the Spanish word "gorditas."

Alice walker's mother had eight children and she worked as a sharecropper. She was poor but ensured all of her children were educated.

Explanation:

Alice Walker's mother had eight children and to feed them she had a very low paying work of a sharecropper which she did with her husband.

They were able to feed eight children and with their poor environment they still made sure that the eight children were able to get a proper education as Alice was the youngest out of them all and she received very good education.

This is something that Walker narrates as a big achievement of her mother and something because of which she became what she is.

Vika [28.1K]

An object I would be really intereste in researching is a cellphone due to the fact that nowadays, it plays a key role in the life of both an adolescent and an adult, and it also lures children. People tend to be more concerned about what is going on in their cellphones using social medias or texting rather than being present in the real moment with the real people they are dealing with at the moment. Cellphones are very useful since it helps as keeping in touch all the time with our beloved people. However, it can be also a fatal device if not used properly or at the right time, since it can be the culprit of a car accident.
