In this excerpt Beowulf shows bravery in accepting that death will come to all, it is a natural thing that we should not fear, but rather accept when the time comes. Beowulf shows the bravery in confronting Grendel's mother (a monstrous creature of unnatural strength) if she tries to stop him from achieving his goals.
