Yes, it does.

Explanation:

New media have a reputation of separating people instead of bringing them together. People spend a lot of times starring at their phones and not talking to anybody, virtual friendships are more common than real ones and internet is the most common way to entertain today.

However, if used correctly, new media and especially internet, can be of great  help and they can allow for many unifying moments that television and radio used to do in the past. Families separated by long physical distances can see each other often via video calls, something that was not possible before. A family can well have a movie evening together as they can sit together and watch a movie on many internet platforms. The same goes for TV and radio programs that are available online, people don't even have to leave their houses to see them.
