A novice scuba diver practicing in a swimming pool takes enough air from his tank to fully expand his lungs before abandoning th

e tank at depth L and swimming to the surface. He ignores instructions and fails to exhale during his ascent. When he reaches the surface, the difference between the external pressure on him and the air pressure in his lungs is 9.3 kPa. From what depth does he start?

Answer:

11.625 m.

Explanation:

Difference of pressure will be due to hydro-static pressure due to column of water of height L.

Pressure of water column  = L d g , where L is depth ,

d is density of water = 1000kg /m³

g = 9.8 ms²

Pressure difference = 9.3 kPa = 9300 Pa

So Ldg = 9300

L X 1000 X 0.8 =9300

800 L = 9300

L = 11.625 m.

Volume of vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida = 3.67 x 10⁹ L

Explanation:

The Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida has a volume of 3,666,500 m³.

Volume = 3,666,500 m³

1 m³ = 1000 L

So volume = 3,666,500 x 1000 = 3666500000 L

Volume of vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida = 3666500000 L

Volume of vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida = 3.67 x 10⁹ L

A car travels 30 miles in 1 hour on a winding mountain road. Which of the following is a true statement?
siniylev [52]

Answer:

The true statement is:

"(C) The magnitude of the average velocity is equal to 30 m.p.h."

Explanation:

Given that a car travels 30 miles in 1 hour on a winding mountain road.

Let' check all the statements one by one:

(A) The magnitude of the total displacement is larger than the distance traveled.

Since the entire motion of the car is not exactly given in the question, so it is not possible to tell whether the magnitude of the total displacement is larger than the distance traveled or not.

Thus, this statement is not true.

(B) The magnitude of the average velocity is greater than 30 m.p.h.

The average velocity of an object is defined as the total displacement covered by the particle divided by the total time taken in covering that displacement.

Total distance covered by the car = 30 miles.

Total time taken by the car to cover this distance = 1 hour.

Therefore, the average velocity of the car for this time interval = \rm \dfrac{30\ miles}{1\ hour }= 30\ m.p.h.

Thus, this statement is also not true.

(C) The magnitude of the average velocity is equal to 30 m.p.h.

As is cleared in part (B) section above, the average velocity of the car in the given time interval is 30 m.p.h.

Thus, this statement is true.

(D)The magnitude of the average velocity is less than to 30 m.p.h.

Since. the average velocity of the car is 30 m.p.h.

Thus, this statement is not true.

(E)The car traveled with a constant speed of 30 m.p.h.

The motion of the car on the mountain road is not thoroughly given in the question, so again it is not possible to tell whether the car traveled with a constant speed of 30 m.p.h. or not.

Thus, this statement is also not true.

Charge: A piece of plastic has a net charge of +2.00 μC. How many more protons than electrons does this piece of plastic have? (
snow_lady [41]

Answer

given,

net charge = +2.00 μC

we know,

1 coulomb charge =  6.28 x 10¹⁸electrons

1 micro coulomb  charge =  6.28 x 10¹⁸ x 10⁻⁶ electron

                                         = 6.28 x 10¹² electrons

2.00 μC = 2 x 6.28 x 10¹² electrons

              = 1.256 x 10¹³ electrons

since net charge is positive.

The number of protons should be 1.256 x 10¹³ more than electrons.

hence, +2.00 μC have 1.256 x 10¹³ more protons than electrons.

Ugo [173]

Answer:

a. 8.33 x 10 ⁻⁶ Pa

b. 8.19 x 10 ⁻¹¹ atm

c. 1.65 x 10 ⁻¹⁰ atm

d. 2.778 x 10 ⁻¹⁴ kg / m²

Explanation:

Given:

a.

I = 2500 W / m² , us = 3.0 x 10 ⁸ m /s

P rad = I / us

P rad  = 2500 W / m² / 3.0 x 10 ⁸ m/s

P rad = 8.33 x 10 ⁻⁶ Pa

b.

P rad = 8.33 x 10 ⁻⁶ Pa *[  9.8 x 10 ⁻⁶ atm / 1 Pa ]

P rad = 8.19 x 10 ⁻¹¹ atm

c.

P rad = 2 * I / us = ( 2 * 2500 w / m²) / [ 3.0 x 10 ⁸ m /s ]

P rad = 1.67 x 10 ⁻⁵ Pa

P₁ = 1.013 x 10 ⁵ Pa /atm

P rad = 1.67 x 10 ⁻⁵ Pa / 1.013 x 10 ⁵ Pa /atm = 1.65 x 10 ⁻¹⁰ atm

d.

P rad  = I / us

ΔP / Δt = I / C² = [ 2500 w / m² ] / ( 3.0 x 10 ⁸ m/s)²

ΔP / Δt = 2.778 x 10 ⁻¹⁴ kg / m²
