Answer: The correct answer is "Magnets have magnetic fields".

Explanation:

Magnet has two poles: South pole and North pole. Same poles of the magnet repel each other. The opposite poles of the magnet attract each other. There is strong magnetic force of repulsion between the same poles of the magnet. There is strong magnetic force of attraction between the opposite poles of the magnet.

Magnetic field lines: These field lines are the area around the magnet in which the magnetic force can be experienced.

The magnetic field is stronger at the ends. The strength of the magnetic field decreases with the distance from the poles.

Therefore, from the given options, "magnets have magnetic field" which best describes a magnet's ability to act at a distance.

Nathan accelerates his skateboard uniformly along a straight path from rest to 12.5 m/s in 2.5 s.
kicyunya [14]

Answer:

<h2>a) Nathan's acceleration is 5 m/s² </h2><h2>b) Nathan's displacement during this time interval is 15.625 m</h2><h2>c) Nathan's average velocity during this time interval is 6.25 m/s</h2>

Explanation:

a) We have equation of motion v = u + at

     Initial velocity, u = 0 m/s

     Final velocity, v = 12.5 m/s

     Time, t = 2.5 s

     Substituting

                      v = u + at

                      1.25 = 0 + a x 2.5

                      a = 5 m/s²

     Nathan's acceleration is 5 m/s²

b) We have equation of motion s = ut + 0.5 at²

        Initial velocity, u = 0 m/s

        Acceleration, a = 5 m/s²

        Time, t = 2.5 s

     Substituting

                      s = ut + 0.5 at²

                      s = 0 x 2.5 + 0.5 x 5 x 2.5²

                      s = 15.625 m

      Nathan's displacement during this time interval is 15.625 m

c) Displacement = 15.625 m

   Time = 2.5 s

  We have

           Displacement = Time x Average velocity

           15.625 = 2.5 x  Average velocity

           Average velocity = 6.25 m/s

     Nathan's average velocity during this time interval is 6.25 m/s

Two narrow slits spaced 100 microns apart are exposed to light of 600 nm. At what angle does the first minimum (dark space) occu
kumpel [21]

Answer:

The angle is   \theta  =  0.1719^o

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

   The  distance of separation is  d =  100 * 10^{-6} \  m

    The  wavelength of light is  \lambda  =  600 nm =  600 *10^{-9} \  m

Generally the condition for destructive interference is mathematically represented as

         dsin(\theta )  =[m  +  \frac{1}{2} ]\lambda

Here  m is the order of maxima,  first minimum (dark space) m = 0

 So

      100 *10^{-6 } *  sin(\theta )  =[0  +  \frac{1}{2} ]600 *10^{-9}

=>   \theta  =  sin^{-1} [0.003]

=>   \theta  =  0.1719^o

A stone is thrown vertically upward with a speed of 15.0 m/s from the edge of a cliff 75.0 m high.How much later does it reach t
Katarina [22]

Answer:

5.72 seconds

848.27 m/s

97.94 m

Explanation:

t = Time taken

u = Initial velocity = 15 m/s

v = Final velocity

s = Displacement

a = Acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s²

v=u+at\\\Rightarrow 0=15-9.81\times t\\\Rightarrow \frac{-15}{-9.81}=t\\\Rightarrow t=1.52 \s

Time taken to reach maximum height is 0.97 seconds

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2\\\Rightarrow s=15\times 1.52+\frac{1}{2}\times -9.81\times 1.52^2\\\Rightarrow s=11.47\ m

So, the stone would travel 11.47 m up

So, total height stone would fall is 75+11.47 = 86.47 m

Total distance travelled by the stone would be 75+11.47+11.47 = 97.94 m

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2\\\Rightarrow 86.47=0t+\frac{1}{2}\times 9.8\times t^2\\\Rightarrow t=\sqrt{\frac{86.47\times 2}{9.81}}\\\Rightarrow t=4.2\ s

Time taken by the stone to travel 86.47 m to the water is is 4.2 seconds

The stone reaches the water after 4.2+1.52 = 5.72 seconds after throwing the stone

v=u+at\\\Rightarrow v=0+9.81\times 86.47 = 848.27\ m/s

Speed just before hitting the water is 848.27 m/s
