In 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt created the Grand Canyon National Game Preserve on the Kaibab Plateau in northern Arizona.

Between 1907 and 1923, cattle grazing was greatly reduced, mule deer hunting was eliminated, and predators were killed. Over 800 cougars, 20 wolves (most had already been killed in the 1800s), and 7000 coyotes were trapped or shot. In response, the mule deer herd began to increase: By 1915, deer numbers were estimated at 25,000; 50,000 by 1920; and 100,000 by 1923.
The initial population of Kaibab deer in 1906 was about 4000. In an area of about 800,000 acres, this works out to an average density of one deer per 200 acres. What was the density in 1923?

Answer:

The average density of deer in 1923 was 1 deer per 8 acres

Explanation:

Given -

In 1923, the population of deer rose to 100,000

The density of any species is equal to total population divided by total area of the land in which this population is residing.

d= \frac{P}{A}

Where d represents the density

P represents the population and

A represents the area of land

Substituting the given values in above equation, we get -

d = \frac{100,000}{800,000} \\d= \frac{1}{8}

Thus, the average density of deer in 1923 was 1 deer per 8 acres

Answer:

\frac{1}{8}

Explanation:

Given -

The number of deer in year 1923 was 100,000

The area of the reserved area is 800,000 acres

The density of any organism in a given area is the number of organism per unit area.

Or

D = \frac{P}{A}

Where, D is the density of deer

P is the total population of deer

and A is the ares of reserved park

Substituting the given values, we get -

\frac{100,000}{800,000} \\= \frac{1}{8}

Which means of particle transport is shown in Figure 7–4 above?
sattari [20]
The correct option is D.
When it comes to movement of particles in an out of cells, there are two basic types of transportation, these are passive and active transportation. The passive transportation of particles does not require  the use of energy while the active transport system requires the use of energy in the form of ATP. From the diagram given in the question, it can be seen that energy is involved in the process. Energy is mainly needed to move the particles against the concentration gradient since the inside of the cell is highly concentrated while the outside has low concentration. <span />

Radio telescopes are best used in _____. Select all that apply. detecting a star that emits little visible light detecting stars
Serhud [2]

The answer is; detecting stars that are behind nebulae that would normally block out other stars

Radio  waves have large frequencies unlike the other waves of the electromagnetic spectrum. Due to their large wavelength, they are much larger than the size of an atom hence cannot be blocked or deflected by atomic nuclei. This is unlike gamma rays (and other short wavelength electromagnetic radiation) that are smaller than atoms and easily blocked and deflected by atomic nuclei. Such radiations are extremely attenuated when they pass the through nebula cloud. Radio waves hence overcome this challenge.

vampirchik [111]
The answer is B. The level of classification increases. In 1950 scientists grouped all living things into five kingdoms which include animals, plants, bacteria, fungi and protista. It was untill 1990 that the scientist realized that bacteria and archaea have different distinct characteristics.

Aleonysh [2.5K]
Protected from the harmful effects of free radicals, often referred to as reactive oxygen species (ROS).
Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) is a by-product of metabolic reactions of cells that use oxygen (aerobic respiration) to produce energy from carbohydrates (food). The problem with H2O2 is that it can be toxic to cells, due to its free radical properties, as an ROS. Organisms protect themselves from this by using an enzyme called peroxidase, also known as cayalase.
