They take control of the farm and, when they realize how advantageous it is for them to have power, they do everything they can to keep it - even killing their fellow animals -, getting more and more similar to humans in the process. The character Clover is deeply sad for the violent practices she's been watching take place. She, like the Russian people, had hoped life would improve for all.

Orwell intends to show that the Soviet leaders became the very thing they criticized the most, promoting inequality.
