What is the central idea of this passage? Archaeology is important for preserving cultural customs of the past, including the ar

t of storytelling. Characters in the old stories were neither good nor bad, and people enjoyed the simplicity of the tales. The Grimms had an interest in preserving tales to be shared with adults and children of future generations. Answer:

The Grimms’ first collection of tales was a cultural study intended for a scholarly audience.

Explanation:

In this passage, we learn about the Grimms' stories. We learn that the characters they presented were complex, and the moral questions of the stories were not easily solved. We also learn that these stories are important for cultural archaeology. However, the most important idea of the text, and the one all other details are connected to is the fact that the Grimm's first collection of tales was a cultural study intended for a scholarly audience.

13. How would a liege lord persuade men to fight for him?
Solnce55 [7]

Answer: Land Lease

Explanation:

Liege Lords were people who were owed loyalty and service by other people who would then be their vassals/ lieges. The highest Liege Lord was the King but lesser Lords and Nobles could assume this title.

If they needed men to fight for them, they would offer them a piece of land. The men would have control over this land but not ownership and in return would pledge allegiance to the liege Lord and fight for them when they are called up.

If you watched Game of Thrones you would notice that Bannermen are a form of lieges. The Starks for instance, were able to call up the Karstarks, Umbers, Flints and Mormonts amongst others when they needed to march South because those were their lieges/ vassals.

Gnom [1K]

In The Metamorphosis, Kafka makes it evident that Gregor endures a hellish existence as a traveling salesman. Being the sole breadwinner of the family also takes its toll. He yearns to be free of his job and his family obligations. It seems as though his wish has been granted when he is transformed into an insect. However, Gregor cannot bask in the joy of his freedom because his physical condition causes the loss of his job, and he is forced to live within the confines of his room. Gregor’s condition is also a symbol of his alienation from society, which burdens him with too many expectations and unrealistic goals.
