The reason that the nail bed appears pink is the presence of a large number of melanocytes in the underlying dermis.

Answer:

The answer is FALSE.

Explanation:

The pink color that the nail bed presents is due to the significant number of blood vessels, specifically capillaries, coursing under the skin. This usually indicates a healthy nail bed. Any discoloration away from the pink color would usually indicate an underlying disease.

For example, if it turns yellowish, it may be an indication of jaundice or liver disease. If it's bluish to whitish in color, hypothermia or anoxia may be present. A distinct condition called Onychomycosis, a fungal infection of the nail, may produce whitish to yellowish discoloration with accompanying thickening of the nail bed.

Living cells require constant access to energy in order to remain alive. Which statement BEST describes why cells need a constan
docker41 [41]

Answer:

D) Energy is required in order to maintain homeostasis--without a constant, organized internal state, the cell will die.

Explanation:

Homeostasis is the condition of relative stability that the body needs to perform its functions properly for the body's balance.

Despite changes that may occur in the body, internally or externally, homeostasis is the constancy of the internal environment (interstitial fluid). Keeping at an appropriate temperature (37º C) ensuring that the necessary changes to the body occur; and thus the cells of the body develop.

Because of homeostasis, cells need a constant supply of energy. That's because energy is needed to maintain homeostasis - without a constant, organized internal state, the cell will die.

Most species of deer are known to eat many different types of plants. Other than being herbivores, identify the category of spec
deff fn [24]

Answer:

they are invasive species

Explanation:

Invasive species can be defined as a category of non-indigenous species that may cause environmental harm. Invasive species have a high fecundity rate, an important dispersal capacity, highly plastic phenotypes, general habitat preferences, ability to circumvent biological controls (i.e., competitors, predators, diseases), etc. In consequence, these features become invasive species practically impossible to eliminate after introduction into a certain area and highly adaptable to new environmental conditions.

How Can Sex-Linked Traits Be Identified
kkurt [141]

If a gene is found only on the X chromosome and not the Y chromosome, it is said to be a sex-linked trait. Because the gene controlling the trait is located on the sex chromosome, sex linkage is linked to the gender of the individual. Usually such genes are found on the X chromosome. The Y chromosome is thus missing such genes (See Diagram above.). The result is that females will have two copies of the sex-linked gene while males will only have one copy of this gene. If the gene is recessive, then males only need one such recessive gene to have a sex-linked trait rather than the customary two recessive genes for traits that are not sex-linked. This is why males exhibit some traits more frequently than females.

100 POINTS!!! ANSWER ASAP [5 SENTENCE ANSWER] Explain the relationship among distance, mass and gravitational force between any
Karolina [17]
Since the gravitational force is directly proportional to the mass of both interacting objects, more massive objects will attract each other with a greater gravitational force. So as the mass of either object increases, the force of gravitational attraction between them also increases. If the mass of one of the objects is doubled, then the force of gravity between them is doubled. If the mass of one of the objects is tripled, then the force of gravity between them is tripled. If the mass of both of the objects is doubled, then the force of gravity between them is quadrupled; and so on.

Hope this helps.
