Answer:

Net operating profit= $124,248

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

The company produced 5,300 rackets and sold 4,200.

Each racket was sold for $83.

Fixed overhead costs are $65,190

Fixed selling and administrative costs are $64,500.

The company also reports the following per unit variable costs for the year:

Variable product costs $24.38

Variable selling and administrative expenses $1.38

Under absorption costing the fixed overhead is included in the product costs.

Unitary fixed overhead= 65190/5300= $12.3

Cost of goods sold= 4200*(24.38 + 12.3)= 154,056

Income statement:

Sales= 4200*83= $348,600

COGS= 154,056

Gross profit= 194,544

Selling and administrative expense= 64500 + (4200*1.38)= $70296

Net operating profit= $124,248

IrinaK [193]

Answer:

Compensation expense for 2022 and 2023 are $12 million and $16 million respectively.

Explanation:

Total compensation expenses = Number of options × Option fair of value = 15 million × $4 = $60 million

Number of years the option is allowed to be exercised = January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2023 = 3 years

Annual compensation expenses = Total compensation expenses ÷ Number of years the option is allowed to be exercised = $60 million ÷ 3 = $20 million

That shows that $20 million is recognized as compensation expenses in 2021.

As there is a 20% forfeiture of the options due to an unexpected turnover, total compensation expenses reduces to:

New total compensation expenses = $60 million × (100% - 20%) = $48 million

Accumulated expenses in 2022 = ($48 million ÷ 3) × 2 = $32 million

Compensation expenses recognized in 2022 = Accumulated expenses in 2022 - Compensation expenses already recognized in 2021 = $32 million - $20 million = $12 million

Compensation expenses recognized in 2023 = $48 million ÷ 3 = $16 million

Therefore, compensation expense for 2022 and 2023 are $12 million and $16 million respectively.

In considering the arguments for the relevance of dividends, which of the following statements is/are correct? a. Shareholders w
stealth61 [152]

Answer:

The correct answer is letter "A": Shareholders who are risk averse may prefer some dividends over the promise of future capital gains.

Explanation:

A dividend is a cash distribution by a company to its shareholders out of the profits of a period. Capital Gain refers to the increase in the value of a capital asset or an investment upon sale. From the two of them, dividends are safer investments since they do not rely exclusively on the sales of an asset.

Thus, a conservative investor is likely to choose dividends over the promise of capital gains.
