GE needed to pay its workers $ in 2016 in order to keep the real wage fixed at $10. b. GE needed to pay its workers $ in 2016 if it wanted to increase the real wage by 10 percent. c. Answer:

a.) $8.00

b.) $8.80

c.)25%

Explanation:

a.) In order to keep real wage (RW) fixed at $10, the company must consider the decrease in the Consumer Price Index to account for the deflation:

Wage = RW*\frac{P_{2016} }{P_{2015}} \\Wage = 10*\frac{80}{100}\\Wage = 8

GE needed to pay its workers $8.00 in 2016.

b.) To increase the real wage by 10% simply multiply the real wage found in item a.) by 1.1:

RW = 8*1.1 = 8.8

GE needed to pay its workers $8.80 in 2016 if it wanted to increase the real wage by 10 percent.

c.) To find out how much that increase would be, divide the new wage by the expected real wage and subtract 1.

Raise = \frac{10}{8} - 1\\Raise = 0.25

Its workers got 25% increase in real wages.

The price of corn will increase  will definitely occur in the corn market.

Option A

<u>Explanation: </u>

Ethanol is a renewable fuel of several organic materials known as "biomass." Further, then 98% of U.S. petroleum includes ethanol, usually E10 to control air emissions, or E10 (10% ethanol, 90% gasoline). Oxygenation of petrol

Corn ethanol is the primary ethanol origin of ethanol fuel throughout the United States derived from corn biomass.

Maize ethanol is generated by fermenting and distilling of ethanol. It is questionable whether corn ethanol consumption leads to lower pollution of greenhouse gas than petrol.

Bill currently uses his entire budget to purchase 5 cans of Pepsi and 3 hamburgers per week. The price of Pepsi is $1 per can,
FinnZ [79.3K]

Answer:

Option (B) is correct.

Explanation:

The utility maximization point for a consumer is as follows:

\frac{MU_x}{P_x}=\frac{MU_y}{P_y}

It is given that,

price of Pepsi(x) = $1 per can

price of a hamburger(y) = $2

Marginal utility from Pepsi = 4

Marginal utility from hamburgers = 6

Hence,

\frac{4}{1}>\frac{6}{2}

4 > 3

Therefore, it can be seen that the consumer's utility is not maximized at this point.

Law of diminishing marginal utility states that as the consumer consumes more and more quantity of goods then as a result the utility obtained from the consumption goes on diminishing.

So, there is a need to increase the quantity of Pepsi consumed and reducing the quantity of hamburgers consumed.

The master budget of Carpenter Company shows that the planned activity level for next year is expected to be 100,000 machine hou
Gnom [1K]

Answer:

Total overhead cost= $988,000

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

Activity level= 100,000 machine hours

Indirect labor $480,000

Machine supplies 120,000

Indirect materials 140,000

Depreciation on factory building 100,000

First, we need to calculate the unitary overhead costs per machine-hours. <u>Depreciation is a fixed cost.</u>

Indirect labor= 480,000/100,000= $4.8

Machine supplies= 120,000/100,000= $1.2

Indirect materials= 140,000/100,000= $1.4

<u>Now, we can determine the total overhead cost for 120,000 machine hours.</u>

<u></u>

Indirect labor= 4.8*120,000= 576,000

Machine supplies= 1.2*120,000= 144,000

Indirect materials= 1.4*120,000= 168,000

Depreciation= 100,000

Total overhead cost= $988,000
