Bishop, Inc., is obligated to pay its creditors $7,800 during the year. a. What is the market value of the shareholders’ equity
Otrada [13]

Answer:

(a) $1,600

(b) $0

Explanation:

Given that,

Total liabilities = $7,800

(a) According to the accounting equation,

Total assets = Total liabilities + Stockholder's equity

$9,400 = $7,800 + Stockholder's equity

$9,400 - $7,800 = Stockholder's equity

$1,600 = Stockholder's equity

(b) Total assets = Total liabilities + Stockholder's equity

$6,700 = $7,800 + Stockholder's equity

$6,700 - $7,800 = Stockholder's equity

$0 = Stockholder's equity

Peterson Company estimates that overhead costs for the next year will be $6,520,000 for indirect labor and $550,000 for factory
Hunter-Best [27]

Answer:

b. $50.50 per machine hour.

Explanation:

Overhead costs are defined as the amount that is spent by a business that is not directly contributing to the product. For example overhead can be labour cost, rent, utilities, and insurance.

These do not contribute directly to the product. Direct cost such as are materials contribute directly to the product.

In the case the overhead costs are given as $6,520,000 for indirect labor and $550,000 for factory utilities.

Total overhead= 6,520,000 + 550,000

Total overhead= $7,070,000

Overhead Cost per hour= Total overhead ÷ Total machine hours

Overhead cost per hour= 7,070,000 ÷ 140,000= $50.50

In the London market, Rolls-Royce stock closed at £0.875 per share. On the same day, the British Pound sterling to the U.S. doll
frutty [35]

Answer:

B. $1.12

Explanation:

The computation of arbitrage trading profit is shown below:-

Euro Share price = £0.875

Spot rate R = £0.6366/$1.00

1 ADR Share price in US = $5.75

1 ADR = 5 share of shares

Now, The actual price of 1 ADR P1 = 5 × Euro Share price ÷  Share price in US

= 5 × £0.875 ÷ £0.6366

= $6.87

Therefore, The  Arbitrage profit = Actual price - trading price

= Actual price - Price in US

= $6.87 - $5.75

= $1.12

Therefore for computing the arbitrage trading profit we simply applied the above formula.

Country A has an absolute advantage over Country B in the production of both soybeans and corn. Explain a scenario in which both
Genrish500 [490]
This is a key idea with international trade.  This involves what is known as comparative advantage.
let's say country A can produce a ton of soybeans in 4 hours and a ton of corn in 2 hours.  While country B can produce a ton of soybeans in 15 hours and a ton of corn in 5 hours.
Looking at this set up you can see that country A can produce both corn and soybeans faster, so they have an absolute advantage in both!
However what trade is based on is opportunity cost.  So if we think about how much corn country A has to give up to produce soybeans, they have to divert a total of 4 hours from corn to soy beans to produce one ton of soy beans.  That 4 hours could be used to produce 2 tons of corn (since 2 hours for 1 ton and we're taking away 4 hours!).  So opportunity cost of soybeans in country A is 2 corn.
In country B they would need a total of 15 hours to produce one extra ton of soybeans, but those 15 hours could instead be used to produce 3 tons of corn (5 hours per ton and we're stealing 15 total hours).  That means country B's opportunity cost is 3 corn.
Since A has a lower opportunity cost in produce soybeans they will specialize and B will specialize in corn.
