7 3/4 × 3/4 = So u add 3×3=9
Then add 4×4=16 Give you 9/16
Then you add that 7 you left out with 9/16
But just the 9 not the 16
7 × 9 = 63 And your answer is 63/16
Hope i help :-)

There are 20 identical sticks lined up in a row occupying 20 distinct places as follows: 11111111111111111111· Six of them are t
Serga [27]

Answer:

a)38760

b)5005

c)210

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that

20 identical sticks

We have to 6 of them

a)

The number of choice will be _{6}^{20}\textrm{c}.

_{6}^{20}\textrm{c}=\dfrac{20!}{6!.14!}

_{6}^{20}\textrm{c}=38760

b)

The number of choices  if no two of the chosen sticks can be consecutive will be  _{6}^{15}\textrm{c}.

_{6}^{15}\textrm{c}=\dfrac{15!}{6!9!}

_{6}^{15}\textrm{c}=5005

c)

|xx|xx|xx|xx|xx|

Total seven positions are available

So

4-0-0-0-0-0-0                                                      7!/6!=7

3-1-0-0-0-0-0                                                         7!/5!=42

2-2-0-0-0-0-0                                                        7!/2!5!=21

2-1-1-0-0-0-0                                                        7!/2!4!=105

1-1-1-1-0-0-0                                                           7!/4!3!=35

Now by adding all 7+42+21+105+35=210

Suppose you select a sample of 12 individuals and find that 10 of them do not exercise regularly. Assuming that the Surveillance
Leto [7]

Answer:

a. mean = 6.96 , standard deviation = 1.71 b. 0.0641

Step-by-step explanation:

Here is the complete question

According to the Behavioural Risk Factor Surveillance System, 58% of all Americans adhere to a sedentary lifestyle (sedentary means does not exercise).

a. If you selected repeated samples of 12 from the U.S. population, what would be the mean number of individuals per sample who do not exercise regularly? What would be the standard deviation?

b. Suppose you select a sample of 12 individuals and find that 10 of them do not exercise regularly. Assuming that the Surveillance System is correct, what is the probability that you would have obtained results as bad or worse than expected?

<em>Solution</em>

a. Since we can only have two types of outcomes, that is, those who exercise and those who do not exercise, the problem follows a binomial distribution.

Since the probability of those who do not exercise, p = 58 % = 0.58,

the mean of the binomial distribution μ = np where n = sample number = 12

So, μ = 12 × 0.58 = 6.96

The standard deviation of a binomial distribution σ = √(npq) where q = probability that people exercise = 1 - p = 1 - 0.58 = 0.42

So, σ = √(12 × 0.58 × 0.42) = √2.9232 = 1.71

b. To find the worst case, we consider the probability that at best, two exercise. Since two exercise, the probability that at best two exercise is ¹²C₂q²p¹⁰ + ¹²C₁qp¹¹ + ¹²C₀q⁰p¹²

= (12 × 11/2)(0.42)²(0.58)¹⁰ + 12(0.42)(0.58)¹¹ + 1 × (0.42)⁰(0.58)¹²

= 0.05 + 0.0126 + 0.00145

= 0.06405

≅ 0.0641

A music buff wants to estimate the percentage of students at a midwestern university who believe that elvis is still alive. how
gulaghasi [49]
Since we are not given any information about the proportion, we will assume the sample proportion to be 0.50

so,
p = 0.50
The Error is 10% percentage point. This means that on either side of the population proportion the error is 5% so E = 0.05
z = 1.645 (Z value for 90% confidence interval)

The margin of error for population proportion is calculated as:

E=z* \sqrt{ \frac{p(1-p)}{n} }  \\  \\ &#10; \frac{E}{z} = \sqrt{ \frac{p(1-p)}{n} }  \\  \\ &#10;( \frac{E}{z} )^{2}= \frac{p(1-p)}{n} \\  \\ &#10;n= p(1-p)* (\frac{z}{E})^{2}  \\  \\ &#10;n=271

This means 271 students should be included in the sample

What would the concentration be if we mixed 200g of 10% sugar solution and 300g of 20% sugar solution?
Irina18 [472]
The new concentration is obtained by
\frac{200 \times 10 + 300 \times 20}{200 + 300} = \frac{2000 + 6000}{500} = \frac{7000}{500} = 14\%
