Answer:

3. Life generated itself from organic matter.

4. Pasteur falsified this notion by a demonstrated experiment.

Explanation:

"Spontangeous generation" refers to a previously-thought process to explain the origin of life in which living organisms were thought to arise from organic, non-living matter and that organisms do not need a 'parent.' This hypothetical process was firstly described 'formally' by Aristotle, but later on, several scientists, like Francesco Redi and Lazzaro Spallanzani, didn't agree to this doctrine but were unable to prove otherwise until Louis Pasteur could.

Louis Pasteur, a French chemist, refuted this notion by performing a series of experiments using 'swan-neck' flasks used to boil broth.

These flasks allowed the entering of oxygen but prevented any microorganisms to have access to them. In his first experiment, when the broth was cooled, it was free of life forms. While in his second experiment, the neck of the flask was broke, thus giving access to life forms to proliferate. At the end of these experiments he concluded: "<em>Life only comes from life</em>."

Answer:

2 & 4

Explanation:

The theory of spontaneous generation stipulated that life emanated spontaneously from ‘nothing’. This was believed to be true until Francesco Redi & Luis Pasteur later falsified this theory using an experiment. He had two plates of cooked meat. He covered one with a glass bowl and left the other open. The plate with a bowl did not develop maggots while the open one did. This showed that maggot was as a result of hatched eggs that were deposited by flies. Life, therefore, emanates from life.

You work for the WWF. Write a letter to the mayor of a small farm town to explain why this town is experiencing erosion, and why
horrorfan [7]

The letter should contain concerns about the causes and ill effects of erosion.

<h3><u>Explanation</u>:</h3>

Sir,

I am very sad to inform you that the town of Hariharanpur is suffering from continuous erosion for the last 3 years. Even after having proper knowledge about this fact, you being the mayor, are not taking any charge of this situation.

The town is situated just by the side of River Ganges which makes it's soil full of moisture. Along with the repeated deforestation and tree cutting for urbanisation, the smallest of the rain falls are also eroding a lot of soils. This can lead to severe landslides in river Ganges with severe loss of properties as well as loss of lives too.

So i request you to start embanking the river as well as to start planting new trees to save the town from getting lost under Ganges.

Thanking you,

XYZ.
