This speech discussing the Athenian government was delivered by Pericles in the fifth century BCE.Our constitution does not copy

the laws of neighboring states; we are rather a pattern to others than imitators ourselves. Its administration favors the many instead of the few; this is why it is called a democracy. If we look to the laws, they afford equal justice to all in their private differences; if to social standing, advancement in public life falls to reputation for capacity, class considerations not being allowed to interfere with merit; nor again does poverty bar the way; if a man is able to serve the state, he is not hindered by the obscurity of his condition.Which principle did Pericles discuss in this speech?

Answer:

Pericles used the principle of fair treatment to the public in his speech.

Explanation:

 • The excerpt of the speech given by Pericles in the fifth century BCE clarifies that the laws that were existent during the time were inclined towards dispensing justice to the majority and not just favor the ones in power.
 • It also tells that the Athenian administration was intelligent enough to devise and implement what was good for their citizens and not simply rely on what the neighboring states were doing to improve their administration.

wlad13 [49]

Answer:

Investment theory of creativity

Explanation:

Researchers Robert Sternberg and Todd Lubart have proposed a theory called the investment theory of creativity. According to the authors, creative people are like good investors: they buy low and sell high. Their research show that creative ideas are rejected as bizarre or ridiculous by most people when they first come out, and thus they are worth little. Creative people are willing to champion these ideas that are not generally accepted, and it is in this sense that they are "buying low". They try hard to convince other people of the value of the new idea, and eventually they turn them into supported and high value ideas. Creative people "sell high" when they move on from the now generally accepted idea on to the next unpopular but promising idea.

A real world example of this theory was famous filmmaker Stanley Kubrick. When most of his movies first came out, they usually were met with mixed or negative reviews, as was the case of films like A Clockwork Orange (1971) or The Shining (1980). However, after a few years, they were widely recognized as cinematic masterpieces.

Dr. germain develops a test to predict the academic success of college freshmen. dr. germain finds a correlation coefficient of
mixas84 [53]

Based on the information, Dr. Germain's test appears to have proved that high-school seniors' scores on the test and high scores in their freshman gpas one year later are two events that tend to happen together (75 out of every 100 times). This is the furthest conclusion that can be interpreted from a correlation coefficent.

But correlation does not imply causality, so he cannot predict with these results that those who got senior scores in high school will perform as good (and better than others) when they become freshmen.
