When circuit boards used in the manufacture of compact disc players are tested, the long-run percentage of defectives is 5%. Let

X = the number of defective boards in a random sample of size n = 25, so X ~ Bin(25, 0.05). (Round your probabilities to three decimal places.)(a) Determine P(X ≤ 2).(b) Determine P(X ≥ 5).(c) Determine P(1 ≤ X ≤ 4).(d) What is the probability that none of the 25 boards is defective?(e) Calculate the expected value and standard deviation of X. (Round your standard deviation to two decimal places.)

Answer:

a) P(X ≤ 2) = 0.87

b)  P(X ≥ 5) = 0.01

c) P(1 ≤ X ≤ 4) = 0.71

d) P ( X = 0 ) = 0.28

e) σ(X) = 1.09 , E(X) = 1.25

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

- Let X = the number of defective boards in a random sample of size n = 25, so X ~ Bin(25, 0.05)

Where, n = 25 and p = 0.05

Find:

(a) Determine P(X ≤ 2).(b) Determine P(X ≥ 5).(c) Determine P(1 ≤ X ≤ 4).(d) What is the probability that none of the 25 boards is defective?(e) Calculate the expected value and standard deviation of X.

Solution:

- The probability mass function for a binomial distribution is given by:

                         P ( X = x ) = nCr * (p)^r * ( 1 - p )^(n-r)

a) P(X ≤ 2):

                         P(X ≤ 2) = P ( X = 0 ) + P ( X = 1 ) + P ( X = 2 )

                         = (0.95)^25 + 25*0.05*0.95^24 + 25C2*0.05^2*0.95^23

                         = 0.87

b) P(X ≥ 5):

            P(X ≥ 5) = 1 - [P ( X = 0 ) + P ( X = 1 ) + P ( X = 2 ) + P ( X = 3 ) + P(X=4)

            = 1 - [ 0.87 + 25C3*0.05^3*0.95^22 + 25C4*0.05^4*0.95^21]

            = 1 - 0.98994

            = 0.01

c) P(1 ≤ X ≤ 4):

            P(1 ≤ X ≤ 4) = P ( X = 1 ) + P ( X = 2 ) + P ( X = 3 ) + P(X=4)

            = ( 0.87 - 0.95^25) + 0.11994

           = 0.71

d) P( X = 0 )

            P ( X = 0 ) = 0.95^25 = 0.28

e) E(X) & σ(X):

            E(X) = n*p

            E(X) = 25*0.05 = 1.25

            σ(X) = sqrt ( Var (X) )

            σ(X) = sqrt ( n*p*(1-p) ) = sqrt ( 25*0.05*0.95 )

            σ(X) = 1.09

Find the Perimeter of this shape. Can someone explain to me how to find the perimeter.
Agata [3.3K]
The little lines in each side show that the sides are the same length but you also need to find the length of the smaller side which isn’t the same. For this imagine that the shape is split into a square and a triangle and you need to find the long side of the triangle using Pythagoras
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
20^2 + 20^2 = 800
Square root of 800 = 28.3
Then do 28.3-20=8.3
So I think the answer is 20+20+20+20+20+8.3=108.3 cm

Cindy’s parking garage charges $3.50 for weekday parking, and weekends are half price. If Cindy parked in the garage 20 times pe
Pachacha [2.7K]

Answer: \$64.75

Step-by-step explanation:

  You know that for weekdays parking the price is $3.50 and weekends are half price.  Then for weekends, the price is the following:

\frac{\$3.50}{2}=\$1.75

You know that Cindy parked in the garage 20 times per month, and three of these days were weekend days. This means that she parked 17 times in week days and 3 times in weekends days.

 Therefore, the total amount of money she would spend on parking per month can be calculated with:

Total\ per\ month=17(\$3.50)+3(\$1.75)\\\\Total\ per\ month=\$59.5+\$5.25\\\\Total\ per\ month=\$64.75

An angle t is drawn from the center of the unit circle. Find a formula in terms of t for the straight line distance d between th
Doss [256]

Answer:

d = \sqrt{2}\cdot \sqrt {1-\cos t - \sin t}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let suppose that one of the radii meets the circle at the point (1,0). The straight line distance formula is:

d = \sqrt{(\cos t - 1)^{2}+(\sin t - 1)^{2}}

d = \sqrt{(\cos^{2}t - 2\cdot \cos t + 1)+(\sin^{2}t - 2\cdot \sin t + 1)}

d = \sqrt{2-2\cdot (\cos t + \sin t )}

d = \sqrt{2}\cdot \sqrt {1-\cos t - \sin t}
