Jolene is opening a doggy daycare named "Little Barks." She is leaving her current job where she makes $75,000 per year in order

to start her own business. The building that Little Barks will be located in is already owned by Jolene, as she was leasing this location out to a tenant for $5,000 per month. Additionally, Jolene will have to pay $10,000 for business permits and insurance in case one of the dogs bites another dog or a person. Jolene will need to buy dog food, toys, beds, and other miscellaneous equipment that will cost an estimated $20,000. She expects revenue to be $125,000 a year. Calculate Jolene’s accounting and economic profit. Address whether Jolene should open Little Barks, or stay at her current job. Fully explain how you came to your answers.

Answer:

Accounting profit is the difference between total revenue and accounting cost in which the accounting cost is containing only the explicit cost incurred. Economic profit is the difference between total revenue and total opportunity cost, the latter containing both the explicit cost and the implicit cost incurred.

Accounting profit = revenue - explicit cost

Accounting profit = 125,000 - (10000 + 20000)

Accounting profit = 95,000

Economic profit = accounting profit - implicit cost

Economic profit = 95,000 - (75000 + 5000)

Economic profit = 15,000

This implies that while accounting profit does not undertake implicit cost of economic activity (cost for which no explicit payment is made separately), economic profit does deduct them. Now economic profit is positive, Jolene should open Little Barks.

Sweet Treats common stock is currently priced as $36.72 a share. The company just paid $2.18 per share as its annual dividend. T
Agata [3.3K]

Answer:

8.27%

Explanation:

Data provided in the question:

Current price = $36.72

Annual dividend paid, D0 = $2.18

Dividend growth rate, g = 2.2% = 0.022

Now,

Cost of Equity = [ (Dividend For Next Year) ÷ Current Price ] + Growth rate

= [ ( D0 × ( 1 + g  ) ) ÷ $36.72 ] + 0.022

= [ ( $2.18 × ( 1 + 0.022  ) ) ÷ $36.72 ] + 0.022

= [ 2.22796  ÷ $36.72 ] + 0.022

= 0.06067 + 0.022

= 0.08267

or

= 0.08267 × 100% = 8.267% ≈ 8.27%

vertical integration strategy

Explanation:

In supply chain management, vertical integration refers to expanding the company's operations to either include some of its vendors, distributors and retailers, or both. This way, the company will be able to control the upstream of the supply chain management (vendors) and/or the downstream (distributors and retailers).

The municipality of Smallville has arranged to borrow $30 million in order to implement several public projects (flood control
sergeinik [125]

Answer:

The correct response is "6.71 years".

Explanation:

The given values are:

Loan amount

= $30 Million

Loan payment per year

= $5 Million

Interest rate

R = 3%

Let,

The take number of years will be "n".

⇒  30=5\times (\frac{\frac{1-1}{(1+3 \ percent)^n}}{3 \ percent} )

⇒  30\times \frac{3 \ percent}{5}=(\frac{1-1}{1.03^n} )

⇒  .18=\frac{1-1}{1.03^n}

⇒  \frac{1}{1.03^n} =1-.18

⇒  1.03^n=\frac{1}{.82}=1.2195

On taking log both sides, we get

⇒  n=\frac{log (1.2195)}{log(1.03)}

⇒  n=6.71 \ years

Vaughn Manufacturing's accounting records reflect the following inventories: Dec. 31, 2020 Dec. 31, 2019Raw materials inventory
pychu [463]

Answer:

$2,090,000

Explanation:

The computation of the total manufacturing cost is shown below:

Total manufacturing cost = Cost of direct materials used + direct labor cost + manufacturing overhead  cost incurred

where,

Cost of direct materials used = Beginning balance of raw material + Purchase of direct materials - ending balance of raw material

= $290,000 + $840,000 - $350,000

= $780,000

So, the total manufacturing cost equals to

= $780,000 + $670,000 + $640,000

= $2,090,000
