Levin and Co. is a group of oil refineries that has been in the news recently. The company had to stop production for over two weeks because their key supplier refused to sell them crude oil at the old prices. Even after rounds of negotiations, the supplier refused to give in to the demands of Levin and Co. and finally, the company had to acquire the raw material from the same supplier because alternative suppliers, though abundant, could not provide the quantities the company demanded at such short notice. This shows the role of dependence in increasing the power one enjoys.

In the experiment, a test subject is being made to sit with someone that he/she regarded to has high authority.
The authority then tell the subject to press a button that would cause electric shock to other people. and the subject was being told the limit that could cause danger to other people.
As it turned out, test subjects tend to obey the authority even if being told to give shock that exceed the dangerous limit.
The first friend can start the conversation by expressing their views on how much society has changed.
Then the second friend can agree or disagree on this view and express their point by comparing today society to an older society views. For example compare how women are treated now in the 21st century, to how women are treated in the 16th century.
