Think and discuss: In this Gizmo, only one crossover is allowed in each segment. In reality, crossovers can occur at almost any

Answer:

Crossing over and random distribution of chromosome will lead to random assortment of new combinations of alleles on the same chromosome.

Explanation:

Crossing can be defined as the exchange of genetic material between homologous chromosomes.

Variation can occur when the sister chromatids have mixture of alleles ( paternal).

This leads to genetic diversity.

This genetic variation is the bedrock and foundation of evolution. This bring about differences in different organisms and when organism differs genetically, they will have different level of adaptability and survival instincts. The eventual result of this is survival of the fittest.

Explanation:

Crossing over occurs in prophase-I during meiosis in which the exchange of genetic material takes place between non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes. As a consequence of this, each chromosome contains a new combination of genes.

After that, at the stage of anaphase-I, alleles of different genes get separated independently of one another into gametes. It results in the gametes with unique combination of chromosomes causing diversity in the traits.

Explain in detail how galen, a physician during the middle ages, expanded on hippocrates’ theory of the four humors and explain
Ann [662]
Hippocrates believed that there are four humors in human body which need balance for a healthy being. These were:
Blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile.
Galen expanded the idea of the humors and introduced four temperaments which were these:
choleric (hot / dry), melancholic (cold / dry), sanguine (warm / moist), and phlegmatic (cold / moist).
Another expansion Galen did was that he gave each humor/temperament physical and psychological qualities and said that even the food items have an association with the certain humor, those foods can effect certain humor in certain ways.

One mole of glucose contains 2870 kJ of energy. The hydrolysis of one mole of ATP releases 30.7 kJ of energy. Calculate the perc
Galina-37 [17]

The answer is:

Total used energy is the energy released by the hydrolysis of one mole of ATP and it is 30.7 kJ.

Total possible energy (used pus released as a heat) is 2870 kJ.

So, we calculate total used/total possible=30.7/2870=0.01069 or 0.017. Expressed in percentage: 1.07% energy is used.
