A company receives shipments of a component used in the manufacture of a component for a high-end acoustic speaker system. When

the components arrive, the company selects a random sample from the shipment and subjects the selected components to a rigorous set of tests to determine if the components in the shipments conform to their specifications. From a recent large shipment, a random sample of 250 of the components was tested, and 24 units failed one or more of the tests. a.At the 98% level of confidence, what is the margin of error in the point estimate of the proportion of components in the shipment that fail to meet the company's specifications

Answer:

ME= 2.33*\sqrt{\frac{0.096*(1-0.096)}{250}}= 0.0434

Step-by-step explanation:

For this case we have a sample size of n = 250 units and in this sample they found that 24 units failed one or more of the tests.

We are interested in the proportion of units that fail to meet the company's specifications, and we can estimate this with:

\hat p = \frac{24}{250}= 0.096

The margin of error is the range of values below and above the sample statistic in a confidence interval.

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

The confidence interval for a proportion is given by this formula

\hat p \pm z_{\alpha/2} \sqrt{\frac{\hat p(1-\hat p)}{n}}

For the 98% confidence interval the value of \alpha=1-0.98=0.02 and \alpha/2=0.01, with that value we can find the quantile required for the interval in the normal standard distribution.

z_{\alpha/2}=2.33

And the margin of error would be:

ME= 2.33*\sqrt{\frac{0.096*(1-0.096)}{250}}= 0.0434

Draw a bar model that shows how the number of hours in March compares with the number of hours in February of this year.
gogolik [260]
Okay so first we need to find how many days are in March and February. March has 31 days and because this year was a leap year February has 29 days.

The next step is to convert days to hours.
March: 31x24=744
February: 29x24=696

Now its time to graph

Using the power series methods solve the 1st order Lane-Emden Equation:
nikklg [1K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

xy = 2y + xy = 0

Hence, 2y + xy = 0 ---------(1)

Differentiating equation (1) n times by Leibnitz theorem, gives:

2y(n) + xy(n) + ny(n - 1) = 0

Let x = 0: 2y(n) + ny(n - 1) = 0

2y(n) = -ny(n - 1)

∴ y(n) = -ny(n - 1)/2 for n ≥ 1

For n = 1: y = 0

For n = 2: y(1) = -y

For n = 3: -3y(2)/2

For n = 4: -2y(3)

For a package to qualify for a certain postage rate, the sum of its length and girth cannot exceed 85 inches. If the girth is 63
tester [92]

Answer:

Length of package can be = 22 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

For a package to qualify for a certain postage rate, the sum of its length and girth cannot exceed 85 inches

To find length of package when girth of package is = 63 inches

Solution:

Let length of package be = l inches

Let girth length of package be = g inches

Sum of length and girth of package = (l+g) inches

To qualify for a certain postage rate the sum of length and girth should not exceed 85 inches.

Thus, the inequality representing the situation can be given as:

l+g\leq 85

We are given girth of package is = 63 inches

So, inequality to find length would be:

l+63\leq 85

Subtracting both sides by 63.

l+63-63\leq 85-63

l\leq 22 inches

So, length should not exceed 22 inches in order to qualify.

Thus, the maximum length of package to qualify for the postal rate must be = 22 inches
