A bucket that has a mass of 30 kg when filled with sand needs to be lifted to the top of a 30 meter tall building. You have a ro

pe that has a mass of 0.3 kg/m that must be secured to the bucket. It takes 1 meter of rope to secure the bucket. Once the bucket reaches the top of the building it only has mass 15 kg because there was a hole in the bottom and sand was leaking out at a constant rate while it was being lifted to the top of the building. Find the work done lifting the bucket (sand and rope) to the top of the building.

Answer:

765 J

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given;

Mass of bucket = 30 kg

Mass of rope = 0.3 kg/m

height of building= 30 meter

Now,

work done lifting the bucket (sand and rope) to the building = work done in lifting the rope + work done in lifting the sand

Or W = W1 + W2

Work done in lifting the rope is given as,

W1 = Force x displacement

W1 = (30,0)∫(0.2x .dx)

Integrating, we have;

W1 = [0.2x²/2] at boundary of 30 and 0

W1 = 0.1(30²)

W1 = 90 J

work done in lifting the sand is given as;

W2 = (30,0)∫(F .dx)

F = mx + c

Where, c = 30 - 15 = 15

m = (30 - 15)/(30 - 0)

m = 15/30 = 0.5

So,

F = 0.5x + 15

Thus,

W2 = (30,0)∫(0.5x + 15 .dx)

Integrating, we have;

W2 = (0.5x²/2) + 15x at boundary of 30 and 0

So,

W2 = (0.5 × 30²)/2) + 15(30)

W2 = 225 + 450

W2 = 675 J

Therefore,

work done lifting the bucket (sand and rope) to the top of the building,

W = 90 + 675

W = 765 J

The quadratic model f(x)=-5x^2 +200 represents the approximate height, in meters, of a ball x seconds after being dropped. The b
mel-nik [20]

Answer:

Third option: 5.48

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the quadratic  model that represents the approximate height in meters of the ball f(x)=-5x^2 +200. the time in seconds x, when the ball is 50 meters from the ground can be calculated by substituting f(x)=50 and solving for x.

Then:

50=-5x^2 +200

Subtract 200 from both sides:

-200+50=-5x^2 +200-200\\-150=-5x^2

Divide both sides by -5:

\frac{-150}{-5}=\frac{-5x^2}{-5}\\30=x^2

Apply square root to both sides:

\sqrt{30}=\sqrt{x^2}\\\sqrt{30}=x\\5.48=x

The ball is 50 meters from the ground after about 5.48 seconds.

Classify the following polynomials. combine any like terms first
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

Monomial

Trinomial

Monomial

Trinomial

Binomial

Step-by-step explanation:

Monomial = 1 unique term

Binomial = 2 unique terms

Trinomial = 3 unique terms

In the first one, the -x^2 and the +x^2 cancel out, and since 2x and 4x are like terms, you can combine them, leaving you with 6x, a Monomial.

In the second one, after combining +3-2 you have 3 separate terms that cannot be combined, making it a Trinomial

In the third one, all of the variables cancel each other out, leaving you with one term, 3, making it a Monomial

In the fourth one, after combining like temrs, you are left with:

x^3 + 3x^2 + 7x

Making it a Trinomial

In the last one, the 6x and -6x cancel out, leaving you with two terms, making it a Binomial.

In the Fall STA 2023 Beginning of the Semester Survey, students were asked how many parties they attended every week and how man
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

-95.78

Step-by-step explanation:

As the researcher decided to make the number of parties attended per week the explanatory variable, this would be variable x in the regression line, and of course, the variable y would be the number of text messages sent per day.

After constructing the linear regression equation, the researcher found that an approximate value \hat y for the actual value of y could be represented by the line

\hat y=64.96+25.41x

Since this is an approximate value, it is not expected that it coincides with the actual value of y. We define then the residual for each value of x as the difference between the actual value of y and the approximation for the given x.

For the value x = 2 (the student attended 2 parties that week) the actual value of y is 20 (the student sent 20 text messages per day that week).

The approximate value of y would be according to the regression line

\hat y(2)=64.96+25.41(2)=64.96+50.82=115.78

Hence, the residual value for x=2 would be

y_{real}-\hat y=20-115.78=-95.78

Find the level of measurement (nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio) and type quantitative or qualitative) for the following var
Soloha48 [4]

Answer:

a. Nominal and qualitative.

b. Ratio and quantitative.

c. Interval and quantitative.

d. Interval and quantitative.

Step-by-step explanation:

A level of measurement can be defined as a classification which is used to illustrate the attributes of the values assigned to variables. There are four (4) basic levels of measurement for a variable and these are;

1. <u>Interval</u>: data can be arranged in an ordering scheme and subtracting its differences is meaningful. Examples are year, temperature, time etc.

2. <u>Ratio</u>: data can be arranged in an ordering scheme and subtracting its differences is meaningful with respect to the value of true zero. Examples are height, price, weight, distance etc.

3. <u>Ordinal</u>: data can be arranged in an ordering scheme but subtracting its differences is meaningless or impossible. Examples are happy, sad etc.

4. <u>Nominal</u>: is characterized by data that are non-numerical, comprises of categories, labels or names and can't be arranged in an ordering scheme.

In this scenario, the level of measurement and data type are listed below;

a. End-of-year stock classification (high yield, medium yield, or low yield): the level of measurement is nominal because they are categorized. Also, the type of data is qualitative because it describes the quality of the stock and it's non-numerical in nature.

b. Length (in feet) of a roll of plastic wrap advertised to be 30 feet long: the level of measurement is a ratio because they can be arranged in order. Also, it's a quantitative data because it is numerical in nature.

c. Temperature (in degrees Celsius): the level of measurement is an interval because they can be arranged in order and the difference in value is meaningful. Also, the type of data is quantitative because it is numerical in nature.

d. Duration (in minutes) of a call to a customer support line: the level of measurement is an interval because they can be arranged in order and the difference in value is meaningful. Also, the type of data is quantitative because it is numerical in nature.
