The height of a small rock falling from the top of a 124-ft-tall building with an initial downward velocity of –30 ft/sec is mod

eled by the equation h(t) = –16t2 – 30t + 124, where t is the time in seconds. For which interval of time does the rock remain in the air?

Answer: 0≤ t ≤2

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi, to solve this question the equation must be equal to 0 (h=0)

h(t) = –16t2 – 30t + 124

0 = –16t2 – 30t + 124

we have to apply the quadratic formula:

For: ax2+ bx + c

a=-16 ; b=-30; c=124

x =[ -b ± √b²-4ac] /2a

Replacing with the values given:

x =[ -(-30) ± √(-30)²-4(-16)124] /2(-16)

x = [ 30 ± √900 +7,936] /-32

x = [ 30± √8,836] /-32

x = [ 30 ± 94] /-32

Positive:

x = [ 30 + 94] /-32 = -3.875

Negative:

x =[ 30 - 94] /-32 = 2 seconds

Since time can't be negative, the rock remains in the air for 2 seconds.

0≤ t ≤2

26! A quarter is 1/4 and so you time the 4 (one whole) times 6 which leaves you with 24 and there’s still have an acre which is two quarter acres and so you add to to 24 and get tour final answer of 26 :)

Ratio for 669 and 221
alexandr402 [8]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

669/221

Discussion:

Ratio of 669 to 221 =  669/221.

Now,  669 = 3 * 223 and 221  = 13 * 17. Note that all numbers involved in the factorizations are distinct primes so nothing cancels out in their ratio. That is,

669/221 can not be reduced further.

Thank you,

MrB

The temperature reading from a thermocouple placed in a constant-temperature medium is normally distributed with mean μ, the act
stealth61 [152]

Answer:  0.2551

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The temperature reading from a thermocouple placed in a constant-temperature medium is normally distributed with mean μ, the actual temperature of the medium, and standard deviation σ.

Significance level : \alpha=1-0.95=0.05

The critical z-value for 95% confidence : z_{\alpha/2}=1.960 (1)

Since , z=\dfrac{x-\mu}{\sigma} (where x be any random variable that represents the temperature reading from a thermocouple.)

Then, from (1)

\dfrac{x-\mu}{\sigma}=1.96\\\\ x-\mu=1.96\sigma     (2)

Also,  all readings are within 0.5° of μ,

i.e. x-\mu

i.e. 1.96\sigma   [From (2)]

i.e. \sigma

i.e. \sigma\approx0.2551

The required standard deviation : \sigma=0.2551

Which diagram best shows how fraction bars can be used to evaluate One-half divided by one-fourth? A fraction bar labeled 1. Und
Leto [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The description is too ambiguous to reconstruct the diagram. You need to post the actual diagram.

That diagram is just one way to view division by a fraction. An easier way: DIVIDING by a fraction is the same as MULTIPLYING by the upside-down fraction. For example,

(1/2) ÷ (1/4) = (1/2) × (4/1) = 2

That doesn’t help you answer this particular question, though.

270 dollars      x dollars

using cross products

200 * x = 270 * 300

divide each side by 200

x = 270 * 300/200
