The World Issues club has decided to donate 60% of all their fundraising activities this year to Stephen Lewis Foundation. This

foundation was created to help ease the pain of HIV/AIDS in Africa. Lewis, a Canadian, works for the United Nations trying to determine ways to stop the spread of this deadly disease from crippling an entire continent. Choose a variable to represent the money earned during fundraising activities and the revenue generated for the foundation Use these variables to create an equation that will determine the amount of money the foundation will receive. In their latest bake sale, the club raised $72. Calculate the amount the foundation will receive. At the end of the year, the World Issues Club mailed a cheque to the foundation for $850. Answer:

  • $43.20
  • $1416.67

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the money earned during fundraising activities =x

Since the World Issues club has decided to donate 60% of all their fundraising activities this year to Stephen Lewis Foundation.

The amount of money the foundation will receive

=60% of x

= 0.6x

In the bake sale, the club raised $72.

Therefore, the amount the foundation will receive =0.6*72=$43.20

At the end of the year, the World Issues Club mailed a cheque to the foundation for $850.

Therefore:

0.6x=850

x=850/0.6

x=$1416.67

The total amount of money the club raised is $1416.67.

lara [203]

Answer:

a) 0.064

b) 0.109

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following information in the question:

Mean, μ = 181 centimeter

Standard Deviation, σ = 7.3 centimeter

We are given that the distribution of height for Northern European adult males is a bell shaped distribution that is a normal distribution.

Formula:

z_{score} = \displaystyle\frac{x-\mu}{\sigma}

a) P(person is between 160 and 170 centimeters)

P(160 \leq x \leq 170) = P(\displaystyle\frac{160 - 181}{7.3} \leq z \leq \displaystyle\frac{170-181}{7.3}) = P(-2.8767 \leq z \leq -1.506)\\\\= P(z \leq -1.506) - P(z < -2.8767)\\= 0.066 -0.002 = 0.064 = 6.4\%

b) P(person is higher than 190 centimeter)

P(x > 190)

P( x > 190) = P( z > \displaystyle\frac{190 - 181}{7.3}) = P(z > 1.2328)

= 1 - P(z \leq 1.2328)

Calculation the value from standard normal z table, we have,

P(x > 190) = 1 - 0.891 = 0.109 = 10.9\%

Three identical circular coins are lined up in a row as shown (the 10s represent their value, not a length). The distance betwee
son4ous [18]

Answer:

Diameter of a circle = 1.6 Cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Distance between first and third coins = 3.2 cm

Find:

Diameter of the coins = ?

Computation:

Number of circle = 3

In the given figure,distance between the first and third coins is 3.2 cm.

So,

Distance = 1st circle radius + 2nd circle diameter + 3rd circle radius

Distance = 1st circle radius + 2 (radius) + 3rd circle radius

Distance = R + 2R + R

3.2 Cm = 4 R

Radius = 0.8 Cm

Diameter of a circle = 2 × radius

Diameter of a circle = 2 × 0.8

Diameter of a circle = 1.6 Cm
