total fraction =1

subtract the fraction spent form the total fraction to know the fraction left for savings

1-7/8= 1/8

then 1/8=?

if less more divides

1/8 ÷ 1 ×2,400

1/8 × 1/1×2,400

1/8 × 2,400

=300.

therefore the man saved 300 rupees
