Answer:

V= original price - 4000x

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :  The value of a new car decreases $4000 each year. After 3 years, the car is worth $18,000.

To Find: Write an equation that represents the value V (in dollars) of the car x years after it is purchased.

Solution:

Since the cost decrease by 4000 in 1 year

So, cost decrease by amount in x years = 4000x

So, the value of car(V) after x years :

V= original price - 4000x  --a

Hence equation a is the required equation .

Since we are given that the car value after 3 years = 18000

So, put x =3 and v =18000 in equation a

18000= original price - 4000*3

18000= original price -12000

18000+12000= original price

30000= originl price

Thus the original price is $30000

A linear function that represents the number of hot dogs purchased at a football game is compared to a different linear function
Vsevolod [243]

Answer:

Key features: the functions can not be parallels, this means that their respective slopes can not be equal or multiple to the other

Step-by-step explanation:

Take for instance 2 linear functions,  and

If they intersect in some point in the space, say that is

Then (x1,y1)=(x3,y3), (x2.y2)= (x3,y3)

So, we can compare the two functions and get the following result;

It tells us that if M=m, we get an error, meaning that the functions are in fact parallels and there is no way that they meet in some point.

hope this helps!

Devon wants to write an equation for a line that passes through 2 of the data points he has collected. The points are (8, 5) and
nevsk [136]

Step-by-step explanation:

Points are (8,5) and (-12,-9)

The equation of a line passing through two points is given by :

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\ \text{m is slope}\\\\y-5=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}(x-8)\\\\y-5=\dfrac{-9-5}{-12-8}\times (x-8)\\\\y-5=\dfrac{7}{10}\times (x-8)\\\\10y-50=7x-56

or

-50+56=7x-10y\\\\7x-10y=6

But he writes the equation 7x – 10y = 3 which is not matching with the one we have calculated. It means that model calculated by Devon is not good.

Rohit visited a pumpkin patch with his family. The table shows the relationship between the weight and price of a pumpkin.
anyanavicka [17]

Answer:

For each additional pound, the price increases $1.50.

Step-by-step explanation:

Lets find the slope of the graph of othe given data.

Let x be the weight of pumpkin in pounds

Let y be the price of the pumpkin in dollars.

For 4 pound pumpkin the price is 6 dollars, so first point is (4,6)

For 8 pound pumpkin the price is 12 dollars, so first point is (8,12)

Find the slope between these points

m = y₂ - y₁ / x₂ - x₁

m = 12 - 6 / 8 -4

m = 6/4

m = 1.5

Which means that for every pound increase in weight, the price of pumpkin increases by 1.5 dollars
