Jason wanted to find out how he could increase the number of popcorn kernels that pop when cooked. He hypothesized that more ker

nels would pop if he used more oil. To test this, he placed 100 kernels of “Pop Rite’ popcorn into a popcorn popper that contained different amounts of oil. He used the following amounts of oil: 5 ml, 10 ml, 20 ml, and 30ml. He used 5 ml of oil as the control. He conducted the test 3 times for each amount of oil. He then counted the number of kernels that had popped. Each time he heated the oil for 2 minutes and cooked the popcorn for 4 minutes

Answer:

Independent: amounts of oil

Dependent: amounts of popped kernels

Controlled variables: Kernel brand, cooking time, popping time

Explanation:

Independent variables are what is changed or manipulated in the experiment or test, here the amount of oil is changed. The dependent variables rely upon the independent variables so they are what is influenced each time, here popped kernels are counted.

Typically, this is what is being tried for. Controlled factors are those that aren't being tried and are kept a similar each an ideal opportunity to ensure it doesn't change the result here Kernel brand, cooking time, popping time are controlled or unchanged.

If a dog has 72 chromosomes, how many daughter cells will be created during the single cell cycle? Each of these daughter cells
PIT_PIT [208]

1. Two daughter cells will be produced. The cell division process known as mitosis (single cell cycle) always produces two identical daughter cells, irrespective of the number of chromosomes.

2. 72 chromosomes. As stated above, the daughter cells are identical to the parent cells and have the same amount of chromosomes.

Explain how cyanide caused Jared’s symptoms (e.g., muscle weakness).
xenn [34]

Answer:

Cyanide may cause muscle weakness because tissues are not able to use oxygen for cellular respiration

Explanation:

Cyanide is a highly toxic compound that inhibits cellular respiration by inactivating cytochrome oxidase in mitochondria, which is a key enzyme responsible for oxidative metabolism and energy production. Thus, cyanide consumption decreases the utilization of oxygen by muscle cells, thereby causing weakness. The symptoms of cyanide poisoning include, among others, weakness, malaise, visual disturbances, muscle pains, etc.
