An epic poem refers to a lengthy narrative poem, which narrates a story which took place beyond living memory and told the extraordinary accomplishments of the extraordinary men and women who dealt with the gods or other superhuman forcec.

Most written epic poems have their roots in an oral tradition since ancestors used to narrate the extraordinary doings of men and women orally in order to entertain the masses verbally. These poems were transmitted through word of mouth until someone written them down as literature. Two of the earliest instances of an oral tradition that turnt into an epic poem are Homer's "Iliad" and "Odyssey."

Epic poetry is just one form of art, poetry, which is created by oral tradition. oral tradition is the passing on from one generation to another of storytelling, songs, proverbs, and other verbal communication within a Society.
The accumulated works are transmitted through word of mouth until someone writes them down as literature, e.g., epic poetry, or reconstructs them as other works of art. An excellent example of epic poetry created from oral tradition is Beowulf, an Old English heroic epic poem of unknown authorship.

What do the tools such as bits, reins, halters, knives, and whips symbolize in the story?
Blababa [14]

Answer:

 • The tools such as bits, reins, halters, knives, and whips symbolize the oppression of the working class under the tsar.

Explanation:

Each one of those devices represent to the vehicle of the dictatorship to have the people under their control. The viciousness, the consistent compromise of their lives. It speaks to the absence of decisions the common laborers had under the tsar' regime.

The question belongs to this passage from chapter 2 of Animal Farm:

The harness-room at the end of the stables was broken open; the bits, the nose-rings, the dog-chains, the cruel knives with which Mr. Jones had been used to castrate the pigs and lambs, were all flung down the well. The reins, the halters, the blinkers, the degrading nosebags, were thrown on to the rubbish fire which was burning in the yard. So were the whips. All the animals capered with joy when they saw the whips going up in flames.
