The acceleration y, in meters per second squared, of an object after x seconds is given by y = 7 sin (pi/4 x). During the first

10 seconds, over which intervals is the acceleration increasing?

(4, 8)
(0, 2) and (6, 10)

Answer: (0, 2) and (6, 10)

Step-by-step explanation:

The acceleration is:

y = 7*sin( x*pi/4).

Over which interval is the acceleration increasing?

First, let's study the sin function:

Sin(θ) increases between -pi/2 and pi/2

Sin(θ) decreases between pi/2 and (3/2)*pi.

And so on.

Here we have:

θ = x*(pi/2)

When x = 0, θ = 0.

And sin(θ) is increasing in θ = 0.

Then we must choose one of the options that start with x = 0.

now it will stop increasing when:

θ = pi/2 = x*(pi/4)

     x = 2.

So the acceleration is increasing in the segment (0,2)

And it will start increase again when:

θ = (3/2)*pi = x*(pi/4)

     (3/2)*pi*(4/pi) = 6 = x.

So at x= 6 the acceleration starts increasing again, and the acceleration is only deffined until x = 10, then

the correct option is: (0, 2) and (6, 10)

You purchase a home for $125,000. The value of the property increases by 1.9% every year. After ten years, you decide to sell th
FinnZ [79.3K]

We can use the formula:

F = P · ( 1 + i )^n

where: P = $125,000, i = 0.019 ( 1.9 %), n = 10

F = $125,000 · ( 1 + 0.019 )^10

F = $125,000 · 1.019^10

F = $125,000 · 1.207096

F = $150,887

And we have to add $48,3000 ( for renovations and improvements )

$150,887 + $48,300 = $199,187 ≈ $199,200

Answer: You will be sell the house for $199,200.

Caleb bought groceries and paid $1.60 in sales tax.the sales tax rate is 2.5% What was the price of Caleb’s groceries,before tax
Goryan [66]

Let price of the Caleb's groceries was $x.

Given that tax rate is 2.5% or 0.025

Then sales tax is given by product of 0.025 and x.

which is 0.025x.

Given that tax paid is $1.60 so both must be equal

0.025x=1.6

divide both side by 0.025

x=1.6/0.025

x=64

Hence final answer is $64.

If ED = 5y + 6 and DB = y + 30, find the value of y. Then find ED, DB, and EB.
Gemiola [76]

Answer:

Part 1) The value of y=6

Part 2) ED=36, DB=36 and EB=72

Step-by-step explanation:

In this problem we know that

ED=DB -----> equation A

EB=ED+DB -----> equation B

The point D is the midpoint ED

see the attached figure to better understand the problem

step 1

Find the value of y

Substitute the given values in the equation A

5y+6=y+30

solve for y

5y-y=30-6

4y=24

y=6

step 2

Find the value of ED,DB and EB

ED=5y+6

substitute the value of y

ED=5(6)+6=36

Remember that

ED=DB

therefore

DB=36

Find the value of EB

EB=ED+DB

EB=36+36=72

Guy wires 80 feet long support a 65-foot tall telephone pole. to the nearest degree, what angle will the wires make with the gro
Usimov [2.4K]
Answer: The guy wires will make a 54 degree angle with the ground.

Start by drawing a right triangle. The hypotenuse will be 80 and the side opposite our angle will be 65.

Since we are working with the opposite side and hypotenuse, we can write and solve the sin equation below.

Sin(X) = 65/80  (Take the inverse sign of both sides)
x about 54 degrees
