Given:

The power generated by an electrical circuit (in watts) as a function of its current x (in amperes) is modeled by

P(x)=-15x(x-8)

To find:

The current which will produce the maximum power.

Solution:

We have,

P(x)=-15x(x-8)

P(x)=-15x^2+120x

Differentiate with respect to x.

P'(x)=-15(2x)+120(1)

P'(x)=-30x+120      ...(i)

To find the extreme point equate P'(x)=0.

-30x+120=0

-30x=-120

Divide both sides by -30.

x=4

Differentiate (i) with respect to x.

P'(x)=-30(1)+(0)

P'(x)=-30 (Maximum)

It means, the given function is maximum at x=4.

Therefore, the current of 4 amperes will produce the maximum power.

Give an example of a qualitative variable and an example of a quantitative variable (discrete or continuous.) Explain the common
galben [10]

Answer:

Example of qualitative variable: hair colour.

Example of discrete quantitative variable: age.

a) Qualitative data displays are pie charts, histograms

b) Quantitative data displays are scatter and line graphs.

Step-by-step explanation:

A qualitative variable expresses a non-numerical quality of an object or person. For example, hair colour (brown, blonde, red...) or eye colour (green, blue, brown...).

A quantitative variable is a numerical value. For example, temperature (100 K, 2000 K...) or age (12 years, 20 years...).

A discrete quantitative variable can be obtained by counting, like the number of cars in a road. This is plotted in scatter graphs. For continuous variable, it can be obtained by measuring, like the height of your family members. This is plotted in line graphs.

  • Pie charts: is a circular graphic that shows the statistics or number of people or objects with certain characteristics. For example, how many people have brown hair, how many are blonde and how many are redheaded.
  • Histograms: they show vertical bars associated with the qualitative variable in the x-axis and the number of objects or people with that characteristic in the y-axis.
  • Scatter: it is a graph with x and y axis and using Cartesian coordinates. Since it is for quatities, numbers can be represented as points.
  • Line graphs: it is basically the same as a scatter plot but in this case the points can be joined by a line because the quantities are connected or are continuous.

A scale drawing of a house addition shows a scale factor of 1 in. = 3.3 ft. Josh decides to make the house addition smaller, and
emmasim [6.3K]
It is decreased by a factor of 3. You can determine this by realizing that one inch original equals 3.3 feet, but the equals 1.1 feet, and 3.3/1.1 = 3.

Mari has a part time job. She earns $7 an hour. She makes at most $143.50 a week. What is the greatest number of hours that she
eduard
<span>If Mary earns 7$ an hour, we need to multiplicate 7$ by the number of hours worked for the entire week so we can get the salary per week. And when we want to know how many hours she had worked, we have to "transform" the equation : Salary per week = salary per hours x worked hours Here, we know to informations : salary per hours and salary per week. Worked hours = salary per week / salary per day Worked hours = 143.50 / 7 Worked hours = 20.5 The greatest number of hours thats he works is 20h30.</span>

There are some nickels dimes and quarters in a large piggy bank for every two nickels there are 3 dimes for every two dimes that
creativ13 [48]

We are given

piggy bank has nickels , dimes and quarters

Let's assume

number of nickels =n

every two nickels there are 3 dimes

so, number of dimes are

=\frac{3}{2}n

=1.5n

every two dimes that are 5 quarters there

so, number of quarters are

=\frac{5}{2}\times 1.5n

=3.75n

so, total number of coins = number of nickels + number of dimes +number of quarters

total number of coins =n+1.5n+3.75

there are 500 coins

so, we get

n+1.5n+3.75n=500

now, we can solve for n

6.25n=500

divide both sides by 6.25

so, we get

n=80

number of dimes is 1.5n

=1.5\times 80

=120

number of quarters  is 3.75n

=3.75\times 80

=300

so,

Number of nickels =80

Number of dimes =120

Number of quarters =300............Answer
