The molecules in the food we eat contain chemical energy stored in chemical bonds. Which statement BEST explains how this energy

is released?
O
A Cells burn food molecules, releasing energy as heat that powers movement while keeping the body at the correct temperature,
B. Chemical energy is released as eaten food is digested, giving off heat as a by-product.
C. Cells extract and capture the energy in food molecules all at once, then store it for later use.
D. Chemical bonds in food molecules are broken, releasing energy and allowing cells to use the energy to make ATP.

If a homozygous black bull is mated with a homozygous white cow and the calf is gray, this could be an example of ___________. H
givi [52]

Answer:

Incomplete dominance

Co-dominance

Explanation:

Gregor Mendel discovered the principles that governs heredity, in which one of them is that an allele called DOMINANT allele, is capable of masking the expression of its variant allele called RECESSIVE allele in a heterozygous state. However, there has been genetic scenarios contrary to this his LAW OF DOMINANCE.

One of those Non-mendelian pattern of inheritance is a phenomenon called INCOMPLETE DOMINANCE, where an allele does not mask the expression of another completely, instead their combined state produces a third intermediate phenotype that is different from both parents. This is the case of the homozygous black bull mated with a homozygous white cow to produce a grey calf. The grey phenotype is an intermediate phenotype of both the black and white colours that forms due to incomplete dominance.

Another genetic scenario is called CO-DOMINANCE, where one allele is neither dominant nor recessive to the other allele, but instead both phenotypes becomes simultaneously expressed in the heterozygous offspring. In this case, the black bull and white cow were mated to form a heterozygous calf with both black and white spots.

What problems do desert plants and rainforest plants have in regards to water and how have they adapted to deal with these probl
Juli2301 [7.4K]

The desert plants ans the rainforest plants both have problems with water, just that they are total opposite ones. The desert plants have problems because they do not have enough water. In order to cope with that, these plants have developed methods through which they are able to retain water and not a single drop to evaporate from them. They also are able to take in water from the air, and have enormous root systems. The plants in the rainforests have problems with too much water, so they have adapted very wide leaves so that the water doesn't go toward their roots. The roots also are able to restrict the intake of water, while the plants themselves have extremely high tolerance to water. They also have developed larger pores on their leaves in order for the water to evaporate more easily from them.

MaRussiya [10]

Rock A = It is a metamorphic rock that  experienced tremendous heat  and  pressure due to massive,  moving tectonic plates.

Metamorphic rocks are rocks that have been somewhat squished and transformed by heat and pressure. These rocks often have different layers as the rocks go through pressure and are literally look like rocks that have been piled up and then stuck together. The best indicator of this rock being a metamorphic rock is the wavy elongated stripes. The stripes are created from the different rock elements being pressed together over time.

Rock B = It is a sedimentary rock made  primarily from lithification of  organic material.

Sedimentary rocks are rocks that have been formed by different substances that come together due to the different weather conditions. The best indicator of this being a sedimentary rock is how the rock came together and looks like a bunch of shells were glued together.

Rock C = It is an igneous rock that  was formed above  Earth’s surface.

Most igneous rocks have smooth outer layers. These rocks are often made with solidified magma from volcanoes. The best indicator of this being an igneous rock is the indication of it being a solidified piece of magma.

1. The glutamate causes an influx of ca2+ ions into the nerve cell akin to what occurs during depolarization. However, this occurs excessively without regulation (due to excessive stimulation by the glutamate) that  eventually causes nerve injury through cytotoxic edema.

2. When the ca2+ levels are lowered during stroke, then nerve cell injury would be obviated hence enabling the chances of restoration of nerve cell function.   This would happen because there would be no excess calcium ions to influx when the NMDA receptors are excessively stimulated by the glutamate molecules.
