Imagine your local city council is considering a city-wide curfew in response to a recent increase in crimes committed by teens.

The proposed curfew would prohibit unsupervised children under 17 from being out after 9:00 p.m. on weekdays, and after 10:00 p.m. on weekends. Some believe the curfews is a good prevention tool, keeping at-risk kids from becoming victims or criminals. Opponents argue confining innocent youth to their homes does not make young people more responsible. In a well-written paragraph, analyze whether the benefits of creating this curfew are worth the costs. Use examples from personal experience or the module to support your answer.

Creating a curfew for overcoming the increase in crimes committed by teens is a viable option but not for the long term. Avoiding teens to be on the streets at night could result in a temporary reduction on crime, but there are several crimes that could be committed hidden on houses or other abandoned places. A more plausible option would be to reinforce police surveillance and of course, creating jobs for teens to encourage them to be responsible and valuable for society.

Which of the following were characteristics of Athenian democracy? Select the three correct answers.
Delvig [45]

Answer:

A. The government consisted of an assembly, a council, and courts.

C. Only free adult males made up the assembly.

D. The citizens elected leaders to discuss important matters.

E. Women, slaves, and foreigners were not allowed to participate.

Explanation:

Around 594 to 321 BC,  in the Athenian polis, there was a democratic form of government. It is called the world's first democratic system. Any citizen had the right (and even the obligation) to participate in the work of the National Assembly. As it is noted by experts, in the heyday of Athenian democracy, about a third of citizens simultaneously held one or another public office.

Ancient Greek democracy was a limited democracy of only free citizens, leaving without the political rights slaves and women, who constituted the vast majority of the population; this ancient democracy was slave-owning democracy.

The national assembly met every 8-9 days, and several thousand people took part in it. Between the meetings of the ecclesia, the “council of five hundred,” was engaged in current affairs. Members of the council were elected by lot of citizens no younger than 30 years old. Litigation was heard in a "jury trial." It consisted of 6,000 people who were chosen by lot.

Answer:

Personal involvement is important because leadership is about driving people towards the achievement of a goal, and one of the most effective ways of doing so is engaging personally with the people (the employee).
