Answer:

Only statement (b) is correct.

\sin 35^{\circ} = \cos 55^{\circ}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given certain trigonometric equality , we have to check which statements are true.

We know , \sin (90-\theta)=\cos \theta

We will check each statement one by one,

Consider,

a) \sin 30^{\circ} = \cos 30^{\circ}

We know from trigonometric table that ,

\sin 30^{\circ} =\frac{1}{2} and  \cos 30^{\circ}=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}

Thus, \sin 30^{\circ} \neq \cos 30^{\circ}

b) \sin 35^{\circ} = \cos 55^{\circ}

Using above identity \sin (90-\theta)=\cos \theta

\sin 35^{\circ} =\sin (90-55)^{\circ} =\cos55^{\circ}

Thus, \sin 35^{\circ} = \cos 55^{\circ}

c) \sin 60^{\circ} = \cos 60^{\circ}

We know from trigonometric table that ,

\sin 60^{\circ} =\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2} and  \cos 30^{\circ}=\frac{1}{2}

Thus, \sin 60^{\circ} \neq \cos 60^{\circ}

d) \sin 55^{\circ} = \cos 25^{\circ}

Using above identity \sin (90-\theta)=\cos \theta

\sin 55^{\circ} =\sin (90-35)^{\circ} =\cos35^{\circ}

Thus, \sin 55^{\circ} \neq\cos 25^{\circ}

Thus, only statement (b) is correct.

An Adult ticket at an amusement park costs $24.95 and a child's ticket costs $15.95. A group of 10 people paid $186.50 to enter
leva [86]

Answer:

There were 3 adults

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Derive the first expression

a+c=10...equation 1

where;

a=number of adults

c=number of children

And total number of people=10

Step 2: Derive the second expression;

Total cost of tickets=(price per child ticket×number of children)+(price per adult ticket×number of adults)

where;

Total cost of tickets=$186.50

price per child ticket=$15.95

price per adult ticket=$24.95

number of children=c

number of adults=a

replacing;

(15.95×c)+(24.95×a)=186.5

24.95 a+15.95 c=186.5....equation 2

Step 3: Combine equation 1 and 2 and solve simultaneously

24.95 a+15.95 c=186.5

-

24.95(a+c=10)

(24.95 a-24.95 a)+(15.95 c-24.95 c)=186.5-(24.95×10)

-9 c=-63

c=-63/-9

c=7

replace the value for c in equation 1

a+c=10

a+7=10

a=10-7

a=3

There were 3 adults

You are at the bottom of a mountain where the temperature is 74°F. The top of the mountain is 5500 feet above you. What is the t
mamaluj [8]

For every 1,000 feet you go up in elevation, the temperature decreases by about 3.3°F

Given:

Temperature at the bottom of the mountain is 74°F

The top of the mountain is 5500 feet above you

Change (reduction) in temperature is 3.3 X 5500 / 1000

= 18.15°F

Temperature at the top of the mountain is 74°F – 18.15°F

= 55.85°F

The function f(x) = xπ−−√ gives the diameter, in inches, of a proposed spherical sculpture with a surface area of x square inche
natka813 [3]

Answer:

The average rate of change of f(x) = 3.14 inches⁻¹

The change in f(x) = 49.32 in

Step-by-step explanation:

The surface area of the spherical sculpture = x and its diameter f(x) = πx.

The average rate of change of f(x) as x changes is df(x)/dx = π = 3.14

Now the change in diameter Δf(x) = df(x) = (df(x)/dx)dx = πdx

dx = Δx = 28.3 in² - 12.6 in² = 15.7 in²

df(x) = π × 15.7 = 49.32 in

Sienna planned a rectangular pool, as shown in the scale drawing below.
svlad2 [7]

Answer:

The scale factor is

27.5 feet / 22 feet = 1.25.

Explanation:

Whenever you are calculating factors, you are comparing two measurements. In this problem we compared a longer length to a shorter length pool. The length was changed to (27.5 feet) and youre comparing to the length it was originally (22 feet).

Ok so you know the two measurements being compared, but how come it’s 27.5/22 and not 22/27.5? Because the value got bigger.

In this problem you had a pool with long side of 22 ft. But then you made it longer to 27.5 ft. So it scales up,

It went from 100% its length to 125% its length. So the length is 125% / 100% = 1.25 times longer than it used to be.

Here’s another example:

How do you calculate your grade percentage on a test? You take the amount of points you earned and divide by the total possible points. Your grade percentage is a comparison of your score (Compare value) compared to a perfect score (reference value) .

So lets say your test had 22 total points. You get all the answers correct so you get 22/22 points which is 22/22*100 = 100%. Let’s say you get an extra bonus question correct so you end up with even more points and you get 27.5 points out of 22. By getting the bonus points you scaled up your score! Now your score is 27.5/22 * 100 = 125%. So you went from 100% to a 125%. Or from a scale factor of 1 to 1.25.

Whenever the value is getting bigger than it was, you’re going to have a compared percentage over 100%. If the value gets smaller, then you would get a compared percentage less than 100%. Similarly a factor scale is going to be over 1 if the compared value is getting bigger, and less than 1 if it’s getting smaller.

So you don’t need to use percentages, factors are the same they just look a little different.

27.5/22 = 125% / 100% = 1.25

In summary just do this division:

(compare value)/(reference value). The result is how big the top value is compared to the bottom value.

Tony addison obtained a 20-year, $45,000 mortgage loan from united savings with an interest rate of 8.5%. his monthly payment is
Anna007 [38]

As given,

Loan amount is = $45000

Rate of interest = 8.5%

So, Tony's mortgage will attract an interest of:

45000\times\frac{8.5}{100} = $3825  (this is yearly)

And for 1st month it will be = \frac{3825}{12}=  $318.75

As given, the first month's payment is $390.60 and this covers the interest Additional amount ($390.60 - $318.75 = $71.85) is a payment against the principle.

Hence, the new principle after the 1st month is $71.85 less than $45000

= 45000-71.85 = $44928.15

Hence, the last option $44928.15 is the correct answer.
