PilotLPTM [1.2K]
It isnt dark or sunny, because it clearly states "hidden in mist and cloud". So for a while i was between misty and cloudy. However I believe it is misty, because cloudy normally means that the sky is clouded, and in the passage it says that it is hidden. Now, i dont know about you, but clouds in the sky have never hidden anything but the sun from me. I think it means that it was as if there was a cloud on earth and that the cloud of mist hid where the men of winter live. Therefore, I believe the answer is the second choice, misty. Hope that helps! Please vote this answer the branliest, too! :)

In Snow-Bound, where does the speaker's sense of hope come from?
zubka84 [21]

In Snow Bound the authors sense of hope came from his family

Explanation:

This is a long narrative poem written by John Greenleaf Whittier recalling the incidents that happened during a snow storm. In this poem he describes how his family was hit by snow storm and then eventually snowbound and the consequences which caused them to be shut off from the entire world.

At first when the snow storm hailed the family was threatened and they planned ways to clear the huge piles of snow from their house but as days passed on it became more severe. The family started to read stories, remain calm and they found the situation much pleasing and they started enjoying the snow rather than being depressed. They gathered the hope that they would remain alive but it was no so and it was only the author and his brother who survived

Which statement most accurately paraphrases lines 71-72 of "The Wanderer'?
astraxan [27]

Answer:

The statement that most accurately paraphrases the lines is:

A. What intelligent person does not know that riches disappear in the end?

Explanation:

When we paraphrase, we reword the ideas expressed by someone. We do not change the ideas, nor do we summarize. We say the exact same thing, but with different words. Let's take a look at what is being said here:

What knowing man knows not the ghostly,

Waste-like end of worldly wealth

The lines above are questioning something. They are asking, maybe in rhetorical way, what intelligent man does not know about how material wealth disappears in the end. The adjective "knowing" is the same as "knowledgeable" or "intelligent". And "waste-like end" means the wealth does not really value much. It disappears ("ghostly", like everything else.

With that in mind, we can easily see that letter A is the one conveying all those ideas:

A. What intelligent person does not know that riches disappear in the end?
