The correct answer is A.

The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is an international treaty signed to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and weapons technology. Its goal is also to promote cooperation between member states in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and to encourage nuclear disarmament.

The Treaty entered into force in 1970 and it was extended indefinitely in 1995. A total of 191 states joined the Treaty so far, including the five nuclear-weapon states. Four UN member states never accepted the Treaty and three of them have nuclear weapons: India, Israel and Pakistan.

Gideon’s case set a precedence for future case law...his case sets the standard for when this particular situation arises and it cannot be contested.
