Two effects of the lack of representation of the Third Estate in the Estates-General:

  • separation of the third estate from the Estates-General
  • formation of the first National Assembly

Context/explanation:

Under the old, existing rules for the Estates-General, each Estate got one vote in the overall decisions of the Estates General.  The 1st Estate (clergy) would get 1 vote, the 2nd Estate (nobility) would get 1 vote, and the 3rd Estate (all others, commoners), would get 1 vote.  So even if the 3rd Estate were granted a greater number of overall delegates, in the end it wouldn't matter. The clergy and nobility would collude with one another to maintain their hold on power.  The members of the 3rd Estate, though they were 98% of the population, thus would get outvoted.

King Louis XVI was forced to convene the Estates-General in 1789 because his government was facing potential bankruptcy of finances.  In the build-up to the meeting of the Estates-General, the 3rd-Estate demanded that their representation be doubled.  That request was granted, with the king and nobles and clergy knowing that the system would still favor the first two Estates.  But the 3rd Estate delegates at the Estates General in 1789 demanded that voting be by head count of all delegates, rather than just one collective vote per house.  That way the 3rd Estate would have enough delegate votes to sway decisions.   That request was opposed by the king and the first two Estates.   So the 3rd Estate separated itself from the rest of the Estates-General and declared itself to be the National Assembly, because it represented the vast majority (98%) of the nation's people.  And thus the French Revolution began.

College students in many instances make a decision on where to live near campus based on price and the number of amenities avail
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

price

Explanation:

It will be easy to provide an example to better illustrate this. Lets suppose that a patient has been diagnosed with cancer and is trying to figure which between chemotherapy or taking drugs is the best treatment. The question this cancer patient is going to ask herself is which among the two will prolong her life. Thus, survival time is the response variable. In our case, the price is the response variable because it is the determining factor of where these college students will live. Amenities somehow affect the price and thus, it will act as the response variable. Price is what we are able to measure and the location which is the students' primary interest lies in our response variable

ozzi

Answer:

If Costello demands from the newspaper, it can happen that: the newspaper must answer for the damages caused, since they are trying to liar Costello and that can cause people to have another image of him. Or it may also happen that the newspaper should not answer for what it has said, since the newspaper is respecting freedom of expression.

The "Move More" program enhanced physical activity in participants by focusing on what type of principles?
lyudmila [28]

Answer:

Group dynamics

Explanation:

The last 20 years has seen a huge success in physical activities based on group dynamics. This is because group dynamics increased to a great extent the number of participants who engage in physical activity with a purpose in mind. Adherence to physical activities has also been higher as a result of the social component of group dynamics. The success of the "Move More" program was a success because it used this approach.
